Job Responsibilities
Cost Estimation
• Detailed Cost Analysis: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for joinery and fit-out projects, including materials, labor, and other resources.
• Tender Preparation: Develop and submit tender documents, including bills of quantities, schedules of work, and cost estimates.
• Cost Forecasting: Predict future costs for ongoing projects and potential tenders, providing comprehensive cost forecasts.
Quantity Surveying
• Measurement and Valuation: Conduct measurements and valuations of work done on-site, ensuring accuracy in quantity take-offs.
• Cost Control: Implement cost control measures to monitor expenditures and manage project budgets effectively.
• Variation Management: Evaluate and manage variations in project scope and cost, negotiating with clients and contractors as necessary.
Contract Administration
• Contract Review: Review and interpret contract documents to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Payment Certification: Certify payments to subcontractors and suppliers based on work progress and contractual agreements.
• Dispute Resolution: Handle disputes related to costs, contracts, and valuations, seeking amicable resolutions.
Project Coordination
• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to align cost estimates with project specifications and timelines.
• Resource Allocation: Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure the timely availability of materials and resources within budget constraints.
Financial Reporting
• Cost Reporting: Prepare regular cost reports and financial statements for internal and client review.
• Budget Monitoring: Monitor project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets and identifying areas for cost-saving.
Quality Assurance
• Standards Compliance: Ensure that cost estimations and quantity surveying practices comply with industry standards and client requirements.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records, including estimates, contracts, reports, and correspondence.
Job Requirements
Education
• Degree: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience
• Industry Experience: 8+ years of experience in quantity surveying or cost estimation, preferably in the joinery, woodworking, or interior fit-out industry.
• Certification: Professional certification from a recognized body (e.g., RICS) is advantageous.
Technical Skills
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and MS Office Suite.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
• Material Knowledge: Familiarity with joinery materials, woodworking techniques, and interior fit-out processes.
