SummaryThe Engineered Systems (ES) Electrical Engineer shall develop, detail, and finalize the electrical project design for ES projects. The engineer will develop or review electrical installation drawings, MCC design (low/high voltage and VFD equipment), instrument data sheets and specifications, support instrumentation selection, in full compliance with recognized industry standards, safety standards, and various client specifications. They will also assist in the technical development or review of assigned project P&IDs and provide support to the procurement team by generating documents for third party packages including MCCs and at times support the proposal process.This work along with any other required data must be accomplished while complying with the company standards, the project proposal and the customers' specifications or input.Principle Responsibilities and Duties
Assist to define scope and cost estimates for electrical equipment / labor in ES projects.
Attend certain internal and external meetings (kick off, coordination, HAZOP, etc.).
Strong technical writing capabilities, reporting and presentation skills. Prepares regular project reports and presentations to project stakeholders and senior management.
Capable of creating and updating company standards for electrical systems.
Create electrical equipment specification package and coordinate with manufacturer for procurement of: Transformers, Low and Medium Voltage Switchgear, Motor Control Center, Variable Frequency Drive, Soft Start Drive, Prefabricated Electrical Substations, Power and instrument Cables, UPS System, Heat Trace power distribution circuits and panels, Plant light power distribution and fixtures.
Provide support for ETAP and Arc flash studies.
Generate or review engineering detail drawings such as: Area Classification drawings, grounding layout and grounding detail, lighting layout and detail, cable tray layout, cable and conduit schedule, control schematics of third-party packages and instrument installation details.
Work with I&E Controls department to generate Controls Architecture block diagram, control strategies for the project, including the use of Smart MCC, wireless technology and third-party equipment.
Work with I&E Controls department for detail Controls design for Balance of Plant instrumentation and controls, including tie-in points for MCC and third-party package equipment as needed(Instrument air package, Hot Oil package, etc.).
Visits suppliers of third-party equipment as needed to coordinate or participate in Factory Acceptance Test to ensure that the provided system function as per specifications. Where necessary, work with the supplier/contractor concerned to rectify the technical issues and making sure that they comply with the specifications and on time delivery.
During project construction phase coordinate and/or response of Request for Information (RFI) files from Electrical contractor and/or Site Electrical inspector.
After project construction phase coordinate the handover of the project scope to Commissioning team.
Qualifications
B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
10 years minimum in relevant experience.
PE or PMP certification is a plus.
Strong working knowledge of applicable industry electrical codes such as NEC 500, NFPA-70E, NFPA-496, NFPA-497, etc.
Experience in Oil and Gas industry or specific to Gas Plants and Compressor Stations is a plus.
Commissioning and start-up experience is a plus.
Good organization and planning skills.
Self -motivated, ability to work under general supervision.
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.
Overtime as required.
Travel to site up to 20 % of year may be require.
