Lead the fabrication of various types of HVAC duct systems, including sheet metal and insulated ducts, as per project blueprints and design specifications.
Utilize hand tools, machinery, and cutting equipment to cut, shape, and assemble ductwork components.
Ensure the accurate measurement, cutting, and fitting of duct pieces to meet design and site requirements.
Provide guidance and leadership to junior fabricators and helpers, ensuring they follow safety and quality standards.
Assign tasks and monitor progress to ensure work is completed on schedule and according to project specifications.
Train and mentor less-experienced fabricators in techniques, safety protocols, and quality control processes.
Inspect all fabricated and installed ductwork for quality, ensuring precise measurements, proper fittings, and airtight seals.
Ensure all duct systems are aligned and installed according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and industry standards (e.g., SMACNA).
Identify any fabrication errors or defects and rectify them before final installation.
ollaborate with HVAC engineers, project managers, and other trades (e.g., piping, electrical) to ensure smooth integration of ductwork with other systems.
Attend project meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and technical details related to duct fabrication and installation.
Coordinate with the site team to schedule fabrication and installation activities in alignment with the overall project timeline.
Monitor and manage the inventory of materials required for duct fabrication, ensuring there is no shortage or delay in project completion.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and care of materials, tools, and equipment used in the fabrication process.
Prepare requisitions for necessary materials and tools as required for fabrication work.
Follow and enforce safety protocols during fabrication and installation, ensuring all work complies with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines.
Conduct regular safety checks on tools, equipment, and the work area to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks.
Ensure the proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) by the team at all times.
Maintain accurate records of fabrication and installation work, including material usage, progress reports, and any deviations from project plans.
Prepare and submit daily and weekly reports to the site supervisor or project manager, detailing work completed and upcoming tasks.
Document any issues encountered during fabrication and installation and suggest solutions.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to duct fabrication, such as material defects, improper fitting, or air leaks.
Provide technical support and solutions to ensure the timely and efficient resolution of fabrication challenges.
Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Technical Certification in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of experience in HVAC duct fabrication, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using hand tools, cutting equipment, and other machinery for duct fabrication.
Certifications: Certifications in HVAC or duct fabrication would be advantageous.
Languages: Proficiency in English is required
