• Data Center Maintenance:
• Oversee the physical installation, cabling, and maintenance of server, storage, and network equipment.
• Perform routine checks on environmental systems, including HVAC, power distribution, and UPS systems to ensure proper functioning.
• Monitor and manage cooling systems, ensuring they are functioning within specified tolerances.
• Hardware & Infrastructure Management:
• Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, network devices, and storage systems.
• Replace faulty components such as hard drives, power supplies, memory, and other hardware.
• Perform equipment installations, including racking, stacking, and cable management.
• Manage inventory of hardware and data center supplies.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
• Utilize monitoring tools to ensure data center health, identifying and addressing potential issues such as system outages or performance degradation.
• Troubleshoot network, hardware, and environmental issues and resolve incidents in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
• Respond to alerts and incidents, performing root cause analysis and applying corrective measures.
• Data Center Security:
• Ensure compliance with data center security protocols, including access control, surveillance, and regular audits.
• Monitor and maintain physical security systems such as cameras, biometric access, and fire suppression systems.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain detailed records of all hardware installations, configurations, and troubleshooting activities.
• Create and update data center diagrams, workflows, and procedural documentation.
• Report regularly on data center performance metrics, including uptime, power usage, and capacity levels.
• Capacity Planning & Optimization:
• Assist in planning data center capacity, including power, cooling, and space utilization to support future growth.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.
• Leadership & Mentoring:
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
• Lead technical projects, including hardware migrations, system upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
• Vendor Management:
• Coordinate with third-party vendors for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of data center equipment and infrastructure.
• Assist in procurement and contract negotiations for new hardware, software, and services.
Qualifications:
• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations, hardware maintenance, or IT infrastructure.
• Proven experience with server hardware, storage systems, and network devices in a large-scale data center environment.
• Technical Skills:
• Expertise in server hardware troubleshooting and replacement (e.g., Dell, HP, Cisco).
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and devices (e.g., TCP/IP, routers, switches).
