Perform layup of variable composite materials according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions, ensuring proper orientation, ply stacking, and resin distribution.
Vacuum Bagging and Curing:
Prepare composite layups for vacuum bagging and curing processes
Trimming and Finishing:
Trim, sand, and finish composite parts to final dimensions and surface quality requirements, using hand and power tools as necessary.
Bonding and Assembly:
Assemble composite components and subassemblies using adhesive bonding, secondary lamination, mechanical fastening, and other joining techniques, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
Material Handling and Inventory Management:
Handle and store composite materials and consumables safely and efficiently, maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring proper material traceability and handling.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the safe handling of hazardous materials.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of work performed.
This job description outlines the primary duties and qualifications for the role of Composite Technician, but additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support the objectives of the organization.Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, with additional vocational training or certification in composite materials technology preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience in composite fabrication, exposure to variety composite materials, in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with composite layup techniques, vacuum bagging processes, Autoclave and out of autoclave (oven) operations.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools for trimming, sanding, and finishing composite parts.
Knowledge of adhesive bonding and assembly methods for composite structures.
Attention to detail and the ability to follow written instructions and work in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues related to composite fabrication.
