:Wood has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator - Commercial, based in the United Arab Emirates, to support the growth aspirations of the business across Middle East, Africa and Caspian. The ideal candidate will support the preparation of commercial responses through the development of pricing models and associated pre-contract commercial activitiesWith minimal supervision, the successful candidate will perform the range of pre-contract commercial activities including review of client ITT/RFP documentation, development of pricing response for commercial models, identification and drafting of commercial clarifications and qualifications, identification and mitigation of commercial risks and opportunities, and liaising with other functions (Tax, Insurance, Treasury etc) to determine most suitable commercial structure for opportunities. The successful candidate will also recognise the importance of commercial innovation and the ability to consider alternative delivery models.This role presents an opportunity for the right individual to become an essential member of the team supporting the successful pursuit of new business.Responsibilities:
  • Promote safe working practices and demonstrate safety leadership at all times
  • Perform pre award activities including the pricing of proposals, performing commercial review of tender documents, preparing commercial proposals prior to submission for internal approval, preparing commercial qualifications and pricing notes,
  • Prepare accurate estimates with due regard to competitor, supply chain and local market trends
  • Liaison with all key functions including Engineering, Tax, Global Mobility, Insurance, Legal, treasury and legal to ensure proposals are align with wood strategies and tender governance.
  • Support commercial strategies for opportunities
  • Support risk review development workshops as necessary for developing commercial response
  • Support Profit Improvement Plans for key opportunities
  • Oversee the development of paperwork for the approval process for Commercial Submissions
  • Review final submission documentation to ensure all commercial elements are reflected appropriately
  • Support in pre-tender client engagements to influence commercial strategy and prepare pricing methodology
  • Assist with the effective handover of commercial matters from pre-contract to post contract phase of projects.
  • Develop new commercial models, as required including incentive schemes and KPIs.
  • Liaison with various internal customers (Contract/Project Managers, Engineers) in all areas of commercial management.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Internal: Working with all stakeholders including Operations, Business Development, Finance, Tax, Insurance, ContractsExternal: External Commercial Teams, External Legal & Contract Teams, Client Supply Chain DepartmentsLEVEL OF INFLUENCE & DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY
  • Under broad direction, ensure estimating / pricing assumptions are robust
  • Accountable for delivery of pre contract commercial tasks ensuring they are completed correctly and in a timely manner
Engagement required with Commercial Managers and to ensure accuracy of commercial submissions, commercial strategy has not deviated and deadlines shall be met.Qualifications:Qualifications:
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in business administration, commerce, quantity surveying, or similar discipline.
  • Professional qualifications desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in a similar role is required
Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • 5 years experience in a similar role or professional qualification is desirable.
  • Experience in pricing of commercial models
  • Experience in drafting and interpretation of contractual documentation
