This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and an eye for fashion, ensuring we maintain a compelling and profitable assortment. The role also involves optimizing the cash conversion cycle, monetizing supplier partnerships, and implementing Joint Business Planning (JBP) to drive revenue growth and profitability.Key Responsibilities1.Buying & Assortment Planning
Develop and execute a category buying strategy for bags and accessories, ensuring a balanced and fashion-forward assortment.
Identify and source new brands and suppliers to expand the product portfolio and enhance the competitive edge.
Conduct seasonal range planning, considering market trends, customer insights, and business objectives.
Leverage Joint Business Planning (JBP) to negotiate supplier investments in category growth and promotional activities.
Monetize supplier partnerships by creating additional revenue streams through strategic collaborations, exclusivity agreements, and supplier-funded marketing initiatives
2.Supplier & Vendor Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers, brands, and designers.
Negotiate pricing, terms, cash conversion cycle optimizations, and supplier funding opportunities to maximize profitability and working capital efficiency.
Implement JBP frameworks to secure supplier contributions for marketing, in-store activations, and digital promotions.
Ensure timely order placements, delivery tracking, and supplier performance evaluation to optimize inventory management and minimize capital lock-in.
Develop monetization strategies through long-term vendor agreements, supplier paid promotional placements, and exclusive product launches.
3.Sales & Inventory Management
Analyze sell-through rates, category performance, and inventory turnover to optimize stock levels and cash flow.
Work closely with the merchandising team to ensure effective allocation and replenishment strategies.
Monitor and adjust the assortment based on sales data, market trends, and customer demand.
Improve cash flow monetization by aligning supplier payment terms with inventory sell-through cycles to reduce inventory holding costs.
Negotiate early payment discounts and vendor-funded markdowns to enhance profitability.
4.Trend & Competitive Analysis
Stay up to date with global fashion trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activity in the bags & accessories category.
Collaborate with the design and marketing teams to develop exclusive collections and campaigns.
Identify opportunities for private label development to increase profit margins and exclusivity within the category.
Monetize category insights by collaborating with suppliers on trend forecasting, ensuring strategic supplier investments in key trends.
5.Pricing, Promotional Strategy & Monetization
Develop competitive pricing strategies to maintain an optimal balance between affordability, brand positioning, and profitability.
Work with the marketing team to create effective category-specific promotions, discounts, and campaigns.
Monetize vendor relationships by securing supplier funding for promotions, exclusive collaborations, and co-branded marketing efforts.
Implement JBP-led promotions, ensuring strategic alignment between supplier objectives and business growth.
6.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with e-commerce, retail, and visual merchandising teams to ensure seamless product launches and effective in-store/online presentations.
Work with the finance team to optimize the cash conversion cycle, ensuring a balance between supplier payment terms and inventory turnover.
Coordinate with the logistics and operations teams to ensure efficient supply chain management and cost control.
Develop supplier-driven monetization strategies through co-funded marketing campaigns, digital activations, and brand partnerships.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in buying, category management, or merchandising within fashion, accessories, or lifestyle retail/e-commerce.
Strong vendor negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing competitive deals, supplier funding, and JBP execution.
Experience in cash conversion cycle management and monetization strategies to drive working capital efficiency and supplier-funded initiatives.
Deep understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, and global brand positioning.
Analytical mindset, with proficiency in data analysis, sales forecasting, performance reporting, and inventory optimization.
Experience working with inventory management systems, ERP, and buying tools.
Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills to work cross-functionally across teams.
