India First is launching a subscription-based digital streaming service offering hyperlocal news, political updates, educational resources, entertainment, sports, and lifestyle content. Our platform (indiafirst.com), founded by Rajendran Vellapalath, aims to revolutionize news consumption in India.

The platform provides a seamless and engaging user experience across various audiences, leveraging Cloudcannon for live content uploads and AWS serverless architecture for scalability. Our development team is dedicated to delivering a user-friendly platform that meets our high standards and timelines.

We are creating the world's first app that provides accessible and impartial news, education, political updates, entertainment, sports, and lifestyle content, empowering users with discovery at their fingertips.

Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer at India First, you will help develop a robust, scalable, and secure digital media platform based on Microsites. Your role includes ensuring high traffic handling, fast loading times, and uninterrupted availability.

You will be open, approachable, proactive, and enjoy collaborating with passionate people. Your responsibilities include delivering high-quality code aligned with team strategy, supporting junior team members, and ensuring team success through:

• Guaranteeing product code quality in line with the technical strategy by meeting quality indicators and championing tech quality.
• Assisting the development team through regular pair programming and collaborative problem-solving.
• Creating conditions for platform success by identifying and removing technical impediments.

Desired Qualifications

We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who are eager to share their technical passion and experience. The ideal candidate should have:

• Experience: 10+ years in the industry and 8+ years with Node.js.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Node.js (mandatory), AWS serverless, and turborepo.
• Methodology: Experience with iterative methodologies, especially agile and lean.
• Tech Quality: Contribution to a "tech-first" environment and experience driving technical best practices.
• Industry Knowledge: Preferably experience in media or a passion for the industry.
• Problem-Solving & Communication:
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive and analytical approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Effective teamwork and strong attention to detail.
• Independent work capability.
• Leadership: Ability to influence and inspire junior team members.
