Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with a strong background in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, a deep understanding of construction accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Project Accounting:
Manage project cost accounting, including job costing, budget tracking, and variance analysis.
Oversee the preparation and monitoring of project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
Accounts Management:
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and project-related transactions.
Payroll:
Manage payroll processes, ensuring accurate calculation and timely disbursement.
Handle payroll tax reporting and compliance.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards specific to the construction industry.
Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting operations.
Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Team Leadership:
Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
Assist in the recruitment and evaluation of accounting personnel.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks, Viewpoint).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting.
Knowledge of construction contracts, AIA billings, and lien waivers.
Familiarity with financial planning and analysis tools.
