GEMS FirstPoint school is looking for a Science Lab Technician for Academic Year 2024-2025.The Science Lab Technician supports the science department in delivering high-quality education by ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of the science laboratories. The role involves preparing practical lessons, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing stock levels, and ensuring health and safety standards are met.Key Responsibilities:Laboratory Preparation:
Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical science lessons and experiments.
Assist teachers and students during laboratory sessions, providing technical support and guidance.
Equipment and Materials Management:
Maintain and organize laboratory equipment, ensuring all items are clean, functional, and stored correctly.
Conduct regular checks on equipment and materials, arranging for repairs or replacements as necessary.
Health and Safety:
Ensure all laboratory activities comply with health and safety regulations.
Conduct risk assessments for laboratory activities and manage safety data sheets (SDS) for chemicals.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and manage stock levels of laboratory supplies and materials.
Order new supplies as needed, maintaining accurate records of inventory.
Administrative Support:
Maintain records of laboratory activities, equipment usage, and safety inspections.
Assist in the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
Professional Development:
Stay updated with advancements in scientific equipment and techniques.
Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Experience:
Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably within an educational environment.
Familiarity with a wide range of scientific equipment and laboratory procedures.
