Role Overview As the School Librarian at Diyar Private Academy, you will be entrusted with managing our library. Your mission is to create an environment where collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving thrive. We seek an excellent communicator who can ignite enthusiasm in others and ensure that students and staff become effective users of ideas and information. Key Responsibilities
- Supporting Children\xe2\x80\x99s Learning:
- Empowering Critical Thinkers: You will empower students to think critically by fostering their analytical skills. Encourage them to question, explore, and evaluate information.
- Promoting Enthusiastic Reading: Instill a love for reading in all pupils. Curate an engaging collection of books and resources that cater to diverse interests and reading levels.
- Skillful Research Guidance: As a librarian, you\xe2\x80\x99ll guide students in conducting research effectively. Teach them how to find reliable sources, evaluate information, and cite references.
- Ethical Information Use: Promote ethical use of information. Teach students about plagiarism, copyright, and responsible digital citizenship.
- Equitable Access to Information:
- Resource Management: Ensure that the library collection aligns with the school\xe2\x80\x99s vision, mission, and learner profile. Curate materials that cater to the UAE context.
- User-Friendly Environment: Create a welcoming and inclusive library space. Organize resources for easy access, and assist students and staff in locating relevant materials.
- Collaboration with Teaching Staff: Work closely with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum. Provide support for project-based learning, research assignments, and literacy initiatives.
- Library Management:
- Supervision and Safety: Take charge of the library and supervise users at all times. Maintain a safe and conducive environment.
- Collection Development: Regularly assess and update the library collection. Acquire new books, digital resources, and educational materials.
- Technology Integration: Stay informed about digital tools and platforms. Explore ways to enhance learning through technology within the library setting.
- Promoting Reading Culture: Organize reading programs, book clubs, and literary events. Encourage students to participate actively in reading-related activities.
- Community Engagement:
- Parent Collaboration: Work closely with parents to guide the learning process. Host parent workshops on literacy, research skills, and library resources.
- Events and Exhibitions: Coordinate book fairs, author visits, and other library-related events. Engage the school community in celebrating literature and knowledge.
- Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Library Science or Related Field: A solid educational foundation in library science or a related field is essential. Your expertise will contribute to effective library management and resource curation.
- Passion for Promoting Literacy and Lifelong Learning: As a librarian, you\xe2\x80\x99ll play a pivotal role in fostering a love for reading and learning among our students. Your enthusiasm will inspire young minds.
