Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or School Counseling and/or Master's degree in School Counseling (optional) Preferred 1-2 years of experience. New grads welcome to apply. Preferred teaching or counselor license. School Counselor Responsibilities:
Provides guidance and counseling services for students, utilizing parents, staff and community resources in the areas of academic achievement, career development, personal/social development and community involvement. Works with and through the team leader, department chair or guidance director, where applicable, in the area of student services. Maintains professional growth via staff development activities both within and outside the district. Provides for the implementation and delivery of the Guidance curriculum. Serves as on-staff resource with expertise in student services. Provides counseling services for students and advisement to parents, teachers, staff, and outside agencies. Counseling services may include, but are not restricted to, individual counseling, group counseling, classroom presentations and crisis intervention. Counseling services may include a review of psychological evaluations and standardized test scores. Assists with student scheduling, student placement, student records, parent conferences, Child Study Team (CST) referrals, outside agency referrals, school level articulation, and student recognition. Plans, implements and coordinates the delivery of the guidance curriculum for middle school with school staff. Consults with teachers, teams, administrators, families and students regarding the progress of students. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.
