Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Safety Officer to join our team at our Oil Tanker Terminal . The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained in all terminal operations, particularly in relation to oil tanker operations, handling hazardous materials, and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
The Safety Officer will play a key role in the prevention of accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents, contributing to a safe and secure workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safety Management: Oversee daily safety operations and ensure compliance with all relevant safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ISPS Code, SOLAS, and MARPOL).
• Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct regular safety audits, hazard assessments, and risk analyses to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions.
• Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response procedures and participate in emergency drills (oil spill response, fire drills, etc.).
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into safety incidents and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Safety Training: Organize and conduct safety training programs and drills for terminal personnel, including contractors and third-party vendors.
• Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all operations meet safety standards and environmental regulations and that proper documentation is maintained.
• Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect equipment, facilities, and vessels for compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
• Safety Reporting: Prepare and submit regular safety performance reports to management, including accident statistics, audit results, and safety observations.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in safety management, preferably within the oil & gas, maritime, or chemical industries.
• Certifications:
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (or equivalent)
• Offshore or Maritime safety certifications (preferred)
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Fire Safety Management training (desirable)
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices specific to oil tanker terminals, maritime operations, and hazardous materials handling.
