Job Description

The Safety Officer for a construction company is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are carried out safely and in compliance with legal standards and company policies. This role involves identifying potential safety hazards, conducting regular site inspections, training workers on safety practices, and implementing corrective measures to reduce risks. The Safety Officer will be on-site to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel, subcontractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Safety Monitoring:
• Oversee day-to-day safety operations on the construction site.
• Monitor activities to ensure compliance with company safety policies and government regulations.
• Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification:
• Conduct thorough site inspections to identify potential hazards.
• Perform risk assessments before new projects or tasks are initiated.
• Develop and implement safety measures to control identified risks.
• Accident Investigation:
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions on the construction site.
• Prepare incident reports and propose measures to prevent future occurrences.
• Training and Induction:
• Conduct safety inductions for all workers and visitors before they start working on-site.
• Provide regular training on construction safety topics, such as fall prevention, equipment safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use.
• Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Safety Compliance:
• Ensure that construction operations comply with OSHA, local, and federal safety regulations.
• Keep up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and update site practices accordingly.
• Ensure that safety signage, emergency exits, and safety equipment are in place and maintained.
• Emergency Preparedness:
• Develop and maintain site-specific emergency response plans.
• Organize emergency drills, such as fire evacuation and first aid response.
• PPE and Safety Equipment Management:
• Ensure workers are equipped with the necessary PPE and that it is used correctly.
• Monitor the condition of safety equipment and arrange for repairs or replacements as needed.
• Contractor and Subcontractor Safety Oversight:
• Ensure all contractors and subcontractors comply with safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct safety audits of subcontractor activities and verify their safety documentation.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of safety activities, including inspection reports, training records, and incident reports.
• Provide weekly and monthly safety reports to the Safety Manager or Site Manager.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Certification in Construction Safety (e.g., OSHA Construction Safety, NEBOSH Construction Certificate).
• At least 2-3 years of experience working as a Safety Officer in a construction environment.
• In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations and standards.

Skills:

• Excellent understanding of construction processes and associated risks.
• Strong communication skills for delivering training and interacting with workers.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans.
• Proficiency in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily based on the construction site, which may involve exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods and occasionally work at heights or in confined spaces.
• May require flexible working hours, including weekends, depending on project demands.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED5,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Dubai: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:
