The purpose of this position is to supervise and lead a team of Rolling Stock Technicians to provide effective engineering and maintenance services covering passenger trains and engineering vehicles for Dubai Metro.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Rolling Stock Engineer in leading a team of technicians out in the field to carry out all level of preventive and corrective maintenance activities and minor modifications on rolling stock including passenger service vehicles, engineering support vehicles, shunting vehicles and wagons.
Supervise routine vehicle inspections, inspecting parts for surface defects, changing of consumable items, perform minor repairs and technical cleaning.
Manage the testing of functional performance of electromechanical assemblies using various test instruments, replace, install electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, align, fit, and assemble component parts, using electronics tools, hand tools, power tools, fixtures, templates, and microscopes.
Supervise the operations of metalworking machines, repair, rework, and calibrate hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies and systems, verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications and to meet operational specifications and tolerances.
Manage and perform time sensitive fault diagnostics and component replacement (repair in situ or inside depot) on the rolling stock.
Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly, analyse and record test results, and prepare written testing documentation. Follow the appropriate maintenance procedures and instructions, operating procedures and instructions to ensure compliance with the required requirements.
Supervise wheel truing of the rolling stock annually or as required using under-floor wheel lathe, perform bogie overhaul at every four and eight years by inspecting and repairing major bogie components such as traction motors, gear-boxes, wheel-sets, and axle boxes in special purpose-built workshops.
Lead Rolling Stock Technicians in understanding and servicing of complex or new equipment.
Lead the maintenance team to perform train rescue on mainline, such as re-railing of trains or engineering vehicle.
Assist the Rolling Stock Engineer or other technical support staff to implement complex systems or new projects.
Produce and maintain accurate maintenance records of rolling stock, work accomplished and other information using a computerized maintenance management system, such as MMS.
Require to work on shift duty.
Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
Implement and follow Permit To Work process.
Carry out competence assessment of Rolling Stock Technicians following appropriate competence.
Performs the role of Key Instructor to conduct relevant training courses.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Working knowledge in maintaining and repairing car body, bogies and suspension, couplers and draft gears, operators\' control, propulsion system, friction brakes, batteries, auxiliary power supply and electrical equipment, car doors and doors control, ventilation and air-conditioning components, train control and monitoring system for rolling stock is desirable
KEY SKILLS
Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision.
Strong mechanical mind, and ability to grasp the complexity of inner workings of rolling stock.
Ability to use and calibrate various electrical, electronic and mechanical test equipment and PC for the maintenance of rolling stock.
Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Preferably holds a valid UAE driving license with good driving skill and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Must have minimum 2 years work experience as a qualified Electrical, Mechanical, or Electro-Mechanical technician in maintaining and repairing rolling stock.
Shoud have 1 year of supervisory experience leading a line maintenance team servicing and repairing rolling stock.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFCATION
Mush hold vocational trade certificate, diploma or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent.
