Overview:
The Reverse Osmosis / Water Treatment Specialist is responsible for reviewing and approving designs for reverse osmosis (RO) and water treatment systems in large-scale projects. The role ensures that these designs comply with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and international standards, while addressing challenges related to water quality, capacity, and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
Water Treatment Design Review and Approval:
Review and approve designs for reverse osmosis (RO) and water treatment systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, local regulations, and international water treatment standards.
Assess system designs for practicality, performance, and sustainability, ensuring water treatment solutions meet required quality and capacity criteria.
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, sustainability standards, and water quality guidelines for potable and process water systems.
Coordination with Design Teams:
Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and environmental engineers to fully integrate water treatment systems into the overall project infrastructure.
Facilitate communication between water treatment design teams and other stakeholders to ensure compatibility with the project's broader water management strategy.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Implement quality control measures to ensure all water treatment designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct compliance reviews to verify that designs adhere to local and international water treatment regulations and best practices.
Technical Problem Solving:
Address and resolve design challenges related to reverse osmosis and water treatment systems, optimizing them for energy efficiency, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
Provide expert advice in solving complex issues such as membrane fouling, scaling, and system efficiency optimization.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive records of all design review activities, including approvals, revisions, and recommendations.
Ensure documentation related to reverse osmosis and water treatment systems is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for audits and regulatory reviews.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the main point of contact for reverse osmosis and water treatment-related inquiries, ensuring client objectives are met through the design.
Participate in design review meetings with clients and stakeholders, providing updates on water treatment design progress and addressing any concerns.
Competency Requirements:
Proven experience in reverse osmosis and water treatment system design review for industrial, municipal, or infrastructure projects.
In-depth knowledge of water treatment technologies, including reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and chemical dosing systems.
Expertise in compliance with international standards (e.g., WHO, ISO, EPA) and local water quality regulations.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to provide actionable feedback and ensure seamless system integration.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
BSc Holders: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized Western-accredited university with over 15 years of relevant experience.
MSc Holders: Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized Western-accredited university with over 12 years of relevant experience.
Professional Membership:
Chartered membership in a recognized institution (e.g., IWA, AWWA, or equivalent).
Experience:
10-15 years of experience in water treatment design review and reverse osmosis systems, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Language Skills:
Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is an asset.
Other Skills:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with project stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong problem-solving skills, ensuring designs are compliant, efficient, and optimized for performance and sustainability.
