The Residence Hall Coordinator (RHC) assists in creating a community for their block and ensures the safety and security of the residents. The RHC will oversee the student staff, depending on the residential hall block, working closely with the Assistant Residential Hall Coordinator (ARHC) and Residential Life Resource Officers (RLRO). In the evenings between 6 pm xe2x80x93 8 am, a staff member will be on duty, so each RHC can expect to be on call for a week once or twice a month. To fulfill duty expectations, this position will be assigned a studio apartment on campus. This position reports to the Area/Complex Manager for the Student Residential Life Department (SRLD).This is a 52-week live-on position, which requires evening and weekend work, as well as on-call responsibilities.The contract is subject to review and renewal on an annual basis, for no more than three consecutive years.Job ResponsibilitiesSupervision:
Oversee a residential block of 200-250 students.
Depending on the building or block assigned, you will supervise 8-15 Resident Assistants (RAs) and Desk Assistants (DAs).
Evaluate student staff (RAs) once a year based on performance expectations.
Community & Student Leadership Development:
Ensure a friendly relationship with students in the building/block and create a strong community.
Build and facilitate a strong team of full-time staff and student staff.
Address roommate issues and other concerns affecting the residential community.
Work with faculty and staff involved in Living/Learning Communities.
Welcome students and parents during an engaging opening/move-in day.
Collaborate with RAs, SELD, SARD, and other units on campus to support programs and the residential curriculum model.
Ensure students understand the rules, regulations, facilities, and services available to them through direct communication and flyers/posters.
Refer students, when necessary, to the proper resources on campus, such as university health care, student counseling, academic support center, etc.
Manage Hall Council to provide students with leadership opportunities in housing.
Oversee the safety and security of resident students.
Student Conduct and Crisis Management:
Coordinate and serve in an on-call duty rotation each evening from 6 pm xe2x80x93 8 am for a population of 700-800 residential students.
Prepare student staff duty and desk schedules each semester.
Carry out fire drills each semester and other emergency preparation initiatives in coordination with the Residential Life Resource Officers (RLRO) and the AUS Safety and Security department.
Manage emergency operations according to SRLD and safety and security policies.
Manage student conduct issues as outlined in the residential policies and student handbook, working with the Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution department to document inappropriate behavior.
Administrative and Departmental Responsibilities:
Follow up on hall maintenance, cleaning, and other issues reported to the IT/Facilities Department.
Handle office documentation and correspondence.
Collaborate and coordinate efforts with other residence hall coordinators, complex managers, and senior leadership in SRLD.
Participate in departmental functions, projects, or committees, including but not limited to community development initiatives, housing operations management, staff selection and training, student discipline process, assessment, and leadership development.
Participate in staff training and development opportunities offered by Residential Life and other campus departments.
Follow processes for custodian reports and logistics.
Ensure Banner data entry for student check-in, checkout, cancelation, transfers, charges, and attendance are up-to-date and accurately completed.
Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill the mission of SRLD.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in related field.

Masterxe2x80x99s Degree in related field.
Experience living on campus while in college.
Experience in a student leadership position while in college.
