The Residential Hall Coordinator works with the Complex Manager and the Assistant Residential Hall Coordinator to create a strong community for their complex, ensuring the safety and security of the residents.Job ResponsibilitiesSupervision
Oversee a residential block of 250-350 students.
Supervision and performance evaluation of Assistant Residential Hall Coordinators.
Supervision of 8-15 Resident Assistant (RAs) and Residential Life Resource Officers (RLRO)
Community & Student Leadership Development
Support programs to create a strong community in the complex, providing a friendly environment to the residents.
Work with RAs, Student Engagement and Leadership Department (SELD), Student Athletics and Recreation Department (SARD), and other units on campus to support programs and residential curriculum model.
Collaborate with faculty and staff that may be working with Living/Learning Communities.
Manage Hall Council so that students can have leadership opportunities in housing.
Welcome students and parents with an engaging opening/move-in day ensuring smooth check-in and meet and greet.
Ensure smooth move in and move out procedures which includes assignments, charges, transfers and cancelation.
Ensure students understand the rules, regulations, facilities and services to students through direct communication and flyers/posters.
Refer students when necessary to the proper resource on campus, university health care, student counseling, academic support center, etc.
Manage roommate problems and other issues that are impacting the residential community.
Oversee the safety and security of resident students.
Student Conduct and Crisis Management
Coordinate and serve in an on-call duty rotation each evening from 5 pm - 7 am for a population of 700-800 residential students.
Manage student conduct issues as noted in the residential policies and student handbook, liaising with the student conduct & resolution department. Document inappropriate behavior.
Prepare student staff duty and desk schedules each semester.
Carry out fire drills supervision and other emergency preparation initiatives in coordination with security and emergency management.
Manage emergency operations according to Student Residential Life Department (SRLD) policies and university policies.
Administrative and Departmental Responsibilities
Follow-up on hall maintenance, cleaning, and other issues reported to OPD/IT/Facilities.
Collaborate and coordinate efforts with other residence hall coordinators, complex managers, and senior leadership in SRLD.
Participate in departmental functions, projects, or committees, including but not limited to community development initiatives, housing operations management, staff selection and training, student discipline process, assessment and leadership development.
Assist and participate in staff training and educational workshops offered by Residential Life and other campus departments.
Follow processes for custodian reports and logistics.
Ensure system data entry for student check-in, checkout, cancellation, transfers, charges and attendance are up-to-date and accurately completed.
Other duties as assigned to fulfill the mission of SRLD.
Qualifications, skills and experience required
Bachelor\'s degree.
Experience living on campus while in college preferred or experience in a student leadership position while in college.
Able to work weekends and evenings, plus on-call responsibilities for a week once or twice a month.
Able to reside on-campus.
Able to work with a diverse team of staff and students.
Excellent administrative and organization skills.
Excellent communication skills, friendly and approachable manner.
Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to multitask and resolve issues.
