The research project focuses on biochar to improve soil fertility and plant resilience. The researcher will collaborate with experts in agriculture and environmental science, conducting experiments with biochar derived from biowastes such as palm leaves and seawater-based biomass. The project aims to address challenges like drought, salinity, and climate change in the UAE's arid soils. The researcher will gain valuable hands-on experience and receive guidance from international collaborators at a university in Poland. The successful candidate is expected to support this research by conducting experiments on seed germination, soil amendment with water-saving compounds, and testing biochar on crops grown in sandy and saline-affected soilsMinimum QualificationThe candidate is expected to have an Ph.D. in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agroforestry, Plant Science, Agronomy, or a closely related discipline. Previous research experience will be an asset. Experience in planning and conducting agricultural field and greenhouse experiments is advantageous. The successful candidate should be familiar with field experiments and lab-based agricultural studies, especially those involving biochar, plant growth trials, and soil health assessments, which will be highly valuable. Additionally, the candidate should have experience with SCADA and cloud-based agricultural software and be capable of independently conducting standard plant and soil analyses in our laboratories. The Researcher should have excellent English language skills (written and spoken) and be willing to work in an interdisciplinary and international teamPreferred Qualification
