The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a research associate position in the Labor Market Research and Development Unit within the Human Capital Research Center (HCRC). The HCRC is a newly established research center within the UAE University concerned with analyzing the current situation, global trends, and studying the future foresight of future job market trends to determine the future competencies, capabilities and skills required, and to provide appropriate recommendations to support various stakeholders including employers, policy makers, and job seekers. This center contributes to enhancing human capital and developing qualified national competencies to meet the labor market future demands locally, regionally, and globally. The successful candidate may have research interests and expertise in a range of relevant fields such as: human resource management and development, HR analytics, career development, Competencies and future needed skills, public policy and governance, employability, employment policies and unemployment, higher education, and labor market trends. Candidates are expected to have: a demonstrable research capability that will enable the candidate to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research program within the mandate of the HCRC that will result in publishing his/her research findings in various outlets including refereed journals, technical reports, books, etc. the ability to actively engage in promoting the research program of the HCRC through personal outreach and building connections with various stakeholders such as government entities, employers, and researchers within the UAE and internationally. The main duties of the research associate include the following: Plan and conduct research on human capital development and labor market issues and disseminate research findings through various outlets such as technical reports, books, conferences, and publications in academic journals. Analyze and interpret data in relevant areas, such as human resource management, labor relations, and workforce productivity to increase the understanding of human social and economic behavior. Provide consultation and advise businesses, public and private agencies, and other employers and policy makers on policies and practices to enhance performance and utilization of human capital at various levels. Develop, implement, and evaluate methods of data collection, such as questionnaires or interviews. Collect data about the attitudes, values, and behaviors of people to understand drivers and outcomes of human behavior regarding work and employment issues. Perform statistical analysis using descriptive and multivariate statistical analyses of data, using computer software. Develop and oversee administrative and logistic procedures and outreach activities to support the mission of the HCRC and successful completion of its programs and initiatives. Applicants must have a PhD degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, or related fields from a reputable university. Candidates with an MSc. degree with extensive research experience in the field will also be considered. Candidates should also have research and outreach experience in the area of human resource management and related fields.
