The Abu Dhabi International Virtual Research Institute for Food Security in the Drylands seeks a dedicated Postdoctoral Fellow to join its dynamic team. This institute features a comprehensive and highly interdisciplinary R&D program and provides an international collaboration platform for researchers and stakeholders in the public and private food and agricultural sectors. The institute aims to advance knowledge and technological innovation to support food security in the UAE and other arid environments worldwide. As part of its research focus, the institute is currently investigating terrestrial farm animal disease transmission paths under the supervision of Dr Moneeb Qablan. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge in molecular biology, as they will be trained in the use of our newly acquired genomic unit, which includes an automated library preparation system, a Next-Generation Sequencer, and a bioinformatics workstation. They will also conduct field work and sample collection from various animal species (camel, small ruminant, and poultry) with the assistance of a veterinarian. Additionally, managing purchases, tracking them, and ensuring necessary supplies are identified and procured before they run out are key responsibilities. PhD in veterinary medicine, biomedical sciences, biology, or a relevant field. Background in bacteriology, virology, or parasitology. Proficiency in molecular biology techniques. Experience in data collection and analysis.
