The successful candidate will work as Research Assistant at the Abu Dhabi International Virtual Research Institute for Food Security in the Drylands. This institute features a comprehensive and highly interdisciplinary R&D program and provides an international collaboration platform for researchers and stakeholders of the public and private food and agricultural sector. The virtual research institute strives to generate knowledge and technological innovation to support food security in the UAE and other arid environments of the world. As part of one of its research themes, the institute aims to use digital tools to track and forecast terrestrial and aquatic farm animal disease transmission paths. To support this work, we are looking for a highly skilled technician who can ensure the computer networks\' stable operation and that networks align with business goals and objectives. As a technician, your work will include planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. You will also have to analyze and resolve end-user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training where required. Familiarity with Agile methodologies is considered an added advantage. Major Responsibilities - Perform network design and capacity planning. - Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to support network procurement and development efforts. - Installs and maintains network file servers and network operating systems; ensures that backup copies of all files are routinely made and securely stored at a separate location; maintains system documentation. - Provides second-level technical support concerning network system operations. - Diagnoses problems with network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriate. - Installs, configures, and maintains multi-user software to be accessed from file servers. - Administer and maintain end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights. - Installs, configures, and maintains network cabling and other networking equipment such as hubs, switches, and UPS. - Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network-connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices - Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.Minimum Qualification- Bachelor\'s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field - Three to five years of networking experience or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position - Operational knowledge of network and routing protocols - Operational knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory - Operational knowledge of switch configurationPreferred Qualification
