• Set up the back table and mayo trolley by maintain sterile field including sponge, needles and instrument counts and maintains a clean and orderly operative field for the surgeon to work on.
• Assist the surgical team in gowning and gloving.
• Prepare the surgical site with antiseptic solution.
• Drape the patient with the help of the surgeon.
Enable setting up of necessary equipment.

• Execute time out policy with team members.
• Correctly identifies patient, procedure, and surgical site.
• Maintain sterility throughout the surgery.
• Coordinate with the circulating nurse for the initial and final counting of sponges, sutures, needles, and instruments before closure. If there is a missing item, notifies the surgeon and nursing in-charge immediately.
Maintain instruments by proper handling, washing, disinfecting. Checking and packing in the designed sets for CSSD.

• Essure proper supplies, equipment's and instrumentation's are available for surgical procedures.
• Receive the patient, checks that all documents are complete and checks all parameters as per preoperative checklist.
• Validate patient's name, surgical procedure, and surgeon before shifting to respective theatre.
• Position the patient according to surgical procedure.
• Assist the scrub nurse in preparing necessary equipment, instruments and consumables.
• Executes time out policy with surgical team members.
• Together with the scrub nurse, count instruments, gauze, mops, blades and needles and documents in the white board as well as in the preoperative nursing record.
• Continuously supervise aseptic technique throughout the procedure.
• Accept and consciously applies emergency measures when needed. Demonstrate competence in Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation Technique.
• Stay with the patient during extubation until the patient is shifted to the recovery room.
• Complete all the documentation needed.

Diploma/bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).
