Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. \xc2\xb7 Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. \xc2\xb7 Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. \xc2\xb7 Organization and management of nursing activities reflect due consideration for patients\' needs and the needs of the department and staff. \xc2\xb7 Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity, identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family. Practices good guest relations. \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of mediations and IV fluids and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. \xc2\xb7 Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. \xc2\xb7 Formulates an individualized plan of care as indicated, and evaluate for effectiveness. \xc2\xb7 Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning. Family is included in teaching as appropriate, from pre-op to discharge. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. \xc2\xb7 Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities. \xc2\xb7 Assist physicians with procedures both in clinic and other departments as needed. \xc2\xb7 Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians and administrative team. \xc2\xb7 Maintains performance improvement for department. \xc2\xb7 Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring and firing. \xc2\xb7 Documentation meets current standards and policies. \xc2\xb7 Ensures medical and surgical asepsis is carried out by the staff.
