Job Title: Regional Solar Generation SpecialistLocation: Dubai OfficeJob Summary and Description:Overview: The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Regional Solar Generation Specialist in the Middle East.This role is designed to complement EPRI's U.S.-based experts by applying our research portfolio to support the growing solar energy sector in the region. The successful candidate will play a key role in adapting and implementing EPRIs research, fostering innovation in solar power technologies, and contributing to the regions solar energy goals.We are looking for a collaborative mid-career professional with expertise in solar generation technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience in areas such as PV performance assessment, monitoring and diagnostics; PV module, racking, and inverter technologies; solar plant design and engineering; and hands-on fieldwork related to solar photovoltaic (PV) and/or concentrated solar power (CSP) power plants. This role is critical to advancing safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible solar energy in the Middle East through applied research and collaboration with local stakeholders.Primary Research Focus:
Assessment of Solar Technologies: Evaluate existing and emerging solar hardware and software, enhancing confidence in long-term plant performance and production.
Solar Life Cycle and Best Practices: Develop guidance on solar plant design, commissioning, operations, and maintenance, as well as end-of-life considerations.
Environmental Impact: Address environmental challenges throughout the solar project lifecycle and promote sustainability and biodiversity best practices.
Economics and Strategy: Provide strategic insights and techno-economic analysis to inform decisions on renewable energy projects and business models.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to research initiatives focused on solar technologies and their application in the Middle East.
Work closely with EPRIs U.S.-based teams to localize research outcomes, ensuring relevance and applicability to regional solar generation challenges.
Develop and apply technical solutions to complex problems in the solar sector, leveraging expertise and innovation.
Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Engage with industry stakeholders, including solar asset owners, operators, and policymakers, to understand needs and offer technical solutions.
Communicate research outcomes and strategies through reports, presentations, webcasts, workshops, and conferences.
Manage small to medium projects, including overseeing budgets and resources.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline. An advanced degree is preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in solar power technologies, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities in solar generation.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset.
Experience working in the Middle East or with Middle Eastern stakeholders is a plus.
