Role
To develop, oversee and optimise the performance of Rice category at a Group level for GCC markets. This includes negotiating with suppliers, leveraging their expertise to secure advantageous terms and maintaining strong supplier relationships. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams to establish optimal pricing structures, ensure competitiveness and category profitability across markets.
Responsibilities
• Develop & Manage Rice category private labels for GCC markets handling over all category commercial and P&L ownership for the region
• Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape and customer preferences and provide actionable plans.
• Understand pricing dynamics of various destination and origin markets and compare with historical and future price positions based on various factors like supply-demand, crop scenario, regulations, etc
• Continuously work on pricing forecast accuracy for yearly bookings to ensure supply planning, quality consistency, competitiveness and profitability
• Understand the specifications of various brands in the market along with commercials and lunch NPDs accordingly.
• Complete ownership of quality and consistency of product quality by selecting right manufacturers with relevant accreditations. Review offtakes regularly and plan activations accordingly to drive sales.
• Monitor and evaluate category performance, leveraging key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
• Lead supplier negotiations, ensuring favourable terms and conditions to drive cost savings and strengthen supplier relationships.
• Execute pricing strategies and promotional plans to optimise profitability while considering market dynamics and customer value perception.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor activities and technological advancements to provide recommendations to senior management.
Preferred skills and qualifications
• Experience in rice category management & private label development within GCC markets.
• Strong understanding of product specifications, packaging, design and costing methods
• Knowledge of inventory management and demand forecasting techniques.
• Understanding of forward booking models, margin analysis and profitability optimisation.
• Experience in vendor management and negotiations with Import and local manufacturers.
• Proficiency in data analysis and using analytics tools
