:A diagnostic radiographer uses X-ray, Computed Tomography, Fluoroscopy, and Mammography and to produce images of organs and body parts. Diagnostic radiographers assist in the diagnosis of injuries and diseases, and contribute towards establishing treatment plans.Responsibilities: * Identify patients correctly.
Carry out radiographic examination as requested accurately and effectively
Undertake a range of radiological services as requested by the physicians.
Rotation in all units / sections in the Radiology Department.
Maintain good patient care of all times.
Observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, examination, and post-examination stay in the department.
Initiate measures to ensure patient safety during procedures.
Perform theater radiographic procedures.
To comply with the local radiation rules and the radiation safety program of the department.
To adhere to all health and safety regulations.
To ensure that the rooms and equipment are maintained and cleaned regularly.
To deputize for the senior Technologist when required.
Vary working hours as necessary to meet the demands of the department.
Maintain effective communication with colleagues, clients / patients and other staff to foster good team working relationship.
Working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise.
Communicating with patients and others in a clear, respectful and appropriate way .Positioning patients safely for examinations and, if necessary, adapting standard techniques depending on medical conditions associated with disability, illness or trauma;
Recording imaging identification and patient documentation quickly, accurately and observing protocols to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality.
Learning new techniques and technologies as required by professional bodies and participating in annual performance appraisal programme.
Notify the Chief Technologist at least two hour in advance of assigned reporting time if unable to work due to illness / emergency.
Perform any other official duties delegated that may be assigned by the Chief Technologist.
Check the quality of the film images and send it for reporting.
Ensure that equipment is in proper working condition and in case of machine breakdown, report to the Chief Technologist.
Reporting incidents of injury to yourself or others according to departmental procedures.
Assessing patients and interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques.
Performing a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high - quality images.
Observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, examination, and post-examination stay in the department.
Assisting in more complex radiological examinations under the supervision of a radiologist and senior staff.
Using initiative to prioritize, deliver and time-manage workload effectively and, when appropriate, assisting senior staff to plan efficient control of work flow patterns within the department.
Dealing confidently with difficult situations.
Supervising assistant practitioners, other staff, and delivering appropriate training.
Performing necessary administrative tasks, when required.
Understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionizing radiation regulations, to protect yourself and others.
Undertaking quality control checks on x-rays and associated equipment, and contributing to quality assurance and audit initiatives.
Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are reported.
Reporting incidents of injury to yourself or others according to departmental procedures.
Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and tidiness within the department
Qualifications:
College Degree in Radiography or its equivalent.
Current license in the country of origin, with DHA License to practice in Dubai, UAE.
At least two years experience
The ability to apply technical skills, together with a demonstrable knowledge of and interest in sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, and physics.
Self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure.
Fluent spoken and written English. Spoken Arabic is advantageous but not essential.
