DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs work in the radiography rooms and wards on a 24-hour on-call rotation basis within the Radiology facilities and ER, OR, OPD and Spl. clinics. The nature of the job necessitates strict adherence to radiation safety regulations due to radiation hazards.
• Reviews radiologic requests to determine the region(s) to be examined and the radiographic projections to be taken, based on the patient's history, departmental guidelines, physician's recommendations, patient's condition and independent judgment.
• Arranges for appropriate patient flow to and from assigned clinical area.
• Transports, prepares and positions patients using care, tact, courtesy and patience
• Adjusts, manipulates and controls a variety of highly technological and costly radiographic equipment and accessories for Radiographic procedure to obtain optimum quality radiographs as prescribed in the departmental procedure manual.
• Ensures proper patient safety by utilizing special equipment or accessories for radiographic procedure.
• Reviews processed radiographs for optimal quality and assists in quality control by maintaining film processing units.
• Prepares and assists in administering contrast media, performing special radiographic procedures or operating specialized radiographic equipment under general supervision of Radiologist
• Assists in maintaining appropriate inventory of supplies and accessories for the performance of Radiologic procedures.
• Maintains clean and antiseptic conditions of the radiology equipment and accessories in the working and clinical environment.
• Demonstrates functional knowledge of sterile and isolation technique in order to prevent contamination.
• Recognizes change in patient's condition that requires emergency action and initiates appropriate response.
• Demonstrates functional knowledge pertaining to potential radiation hazard and appropriate radiation safety regulations.
• Assists with the instruction of Radiologic Technology staff in aspects of radiologic technology that pertain to the clinical area and attends in-service education and staff development meetings.
• Strictly observes organization's medical regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
• Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the Radiologist.
OSH ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL
• Staff are responsible for implementation of OSHAD-SF& NMCSH Al Ain Internal OSHMS/ OSHMS /EHSMS policiesand procedures/SOP's relevant to their department.
• Staff should notify/report all OSHMS/EHSMShazards, incidents, accidents and near misses within the premises of NMCSH Al Ain to their supervisor or department OSH Facilitator as per the incident reporting protocol of NMCSH Al Ain.
• Staffs should familiarize them and comply with all NMCSH Al Ain OSHMS /EHSMS policies, standards and procedures that are relevant for their workplace.
• Staff are responsible to attend applicable department OSHMS /EHSMS training and follow NMCSH Al Ain policies and procedures.
• Staff are responsible for taking reasonable care for their health and safety of persons and the Occupational that may affect by the labor act or omissions at the workplace.
• Staff are responsible to wear all PPE's provided to them.
• Staff are not allowed to tamper or misuse any NMCSH Al Ain equipment's and its property.
• Staff should abide all safety instructions and signages within the premises of NMCSH-Al Ain.
• Staff are responsible for following and complying with any specified OSH/EHS procedures associated to the task/job.
SPECIFIC
• Knowing the radiation exposure hazards and risks in their workplace and its control measures.
• Knowing NMCSH Radiation safety Policy and standard operating Procedures.
• Knowing about the Safety Measures need to be discussed to the patients first prior to undergo test like X-ray, CT-Scan etc.
• Knowing the FANR/Abu-Dhabi Radiation Safety rules and regulations
• is responsible for how and whom to report accidents/Incidents/Hazards/Near misses related to Radiation Safety
• Is responsible about PPE's to be used for Radiation Protections and its limitations.
• Is responsible about the Safety measures implemented on their working place for radiation protections.
• Is responsible about Dosimeter and their proper uses/limitations.
• Is responsible to know about the maximum permissible exposure limit (PEL) for radiation.
• responsible to know how to maintain, test and store the PPE'S e.g.: Lead apron should be tested for any damage/ defects under fluoroscopy test at least annually and PPE'S like lead aprons should be stored/hanged on appropriate stands.
• responsible to know of Right person, Right dose and Right site protocol
• Responsible to know how to report equipment damage/ defect/malfunction.
• Responsible of LOTO (Logout/Tag out) procedures.
• Responsible of the emergency shutting down procedures for radiation equipment's which should be done in the event of any emergencies.
• Radiation technicians are certified/licensed/ experienced and competent to practice the activity as per HAAD/FANR Standards.
• Is responsible to demonstrate cognitive skills such as diagnosis of faults, Decision making, emergency management, incident reporting.
• Is responsible of procedure to report any damage/defect/ incidents related Radiation equipment's and exposure
• Is responsible of over exposure statistics and it should be communicate
• Is responsible to demonstrate safe use of PPE (E.g. Lead Apron. Gonad Shields, Half Shields etc.)
• Is responsible to Demonstrate Proper Storage of PPE's
• Is responsible to Demonstrate Proper Maintenance & Inspection of PPE

QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS:
• Completion of higher secondary school, must have successfully completed a 2 years program at an approved school for Radiologic Technology or equivalent certification from the country of origin recognized by DOH.
• Two (2) years practical experience in Radiologic Technology under a qualified Radiologist preferred.
• Must have DOH License to practice.
• Read, write and understand English and Arabic .
