This role is ideal for quantity surveyors who wish to leverage their expertise in a legal context, assisting law firms with accurate financial and contractual insights that impact case outcomes.Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed analyses of project costs, contract compliance, and financial documentation for legal review.
Prepare impartial, evidence-based reports to support claims or defenses in legal disputes related to construction costs, delays, or contract issues.
Serve as an expert witness in court or arbitration, presenting findings clearly and confidently to judges, arbitrators, and other legal professionals.
Collaborate closely with legal teams, translating technical financial details into understandable terms for non-specialist audiences.
Remain up-to-date with construction law and relevant standards to ensure accurate, reliable consultancy for each case.
Key Areas of Focus
Review and interpret construction contracts, identifying any breaches, non-compliance, or areas of potential dispute.
Offer objective insight into project cost management, budget overruns, and discrepancies in financial reporting.
Assess project timelines, identifying delays, disruptions, and their financial impacts on overall project costs.
Provide assessments related to risk allocation, project liabilities, and potential financial exposure in disputes.
Present findings in court or tribunal settings with clarity, professionalism, and an unbiased perspective.
Qualifications
Recognized qualifications in quantity surveying and substantial knowledge of construction law.
Experience in expert witness services or consultancy roles within legal frameworks, with the ability to deliver accurate, unbiased testimony.
Proven capacity to interpret contracts and conduct detailed financial analysis in construction disputes.

Ideal Profile
Chartered status with RICS (MRICS or FRICS) or equivalent, with expertise in both quantity surveying and legal contexts.

Proven ability to produce precise, evidence-based reports that can withstand legal scrutiny.
Strong communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical details in a clear, accessible way for court proceedings.
