Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the cost and financial side of construction projects, including estimating, budgeting, and cost control. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation:

Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overheads. Analyze project specifications and drawings to assess project requirements and costs.

Budget Management:

Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs remain within the allocated financial framework. Track project expenditures and prepare cost forecasts to avoid cost overruns.

Tendering & Contract Management:

Assist in the preparation of tender documents, evaluate bids, and negotiate contracts with contractors and suppliers. Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and manage variations.

Cost Control & Reporting:

Track the progress of projects, assessing costs, work completed, and potential risks. Prepare detailed reports for clients and internal stakeholders on the financial status of projects.

Valuation & Payment Certificates:

Carry out site measurements and assessments to determine the value of work completed and prepare interim and final payment certificates.

Procurement & Supply Chain:

Work with project managers to identify and source the necessary materials and subcontractors. Ensure that all procurement activities are carried out in accordance with project requirements and specifications.

Risk Management:

Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks. Ensure that all costs are managed effectively and proactively.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all work complies with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Maintain accurate records of all financial documentation.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the design team, project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure that cost and financial objectives align with project timelines and specifications.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

3+ years of experience

as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction cost estimation, budgeting, and contract management. Familiarity with construction software such as CostX, Buildertrend, or similar tools. Solid understanding of construction materials, processes, and methods. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

Membership in a professional organization such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent. Experience with large-scale construction projects, including commercial, residential, or infrastructure developments. Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to construction contracts and project management.
