• Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
• Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Monitor and control project costs to ensure that the project stays within budget.
• Advise on cost-saving measures and alternative materials or methods.
• Tendering and Procurement:
• Prepare and issue tender documents, invitations to tender, and manage the selection of contractors and suppliers.
• Evaluate tender submissions and recommend the most suitable contractor or supplier.
• Contract Management:
• Draft and review contracts and agreements with contractors and suppliers.
• Ensure contracts are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Handle claims, disputes, and variations to the contract.
• Cost Control and Financial Reporting:
• Monitor the financial performance of the project, including tracking costs, preparing cost reports, and ensuring the project is on budget.
• Provide regular updates on the financial status of the project to the management team.
• Conduct cost audits and forecasts to predict financial outcomes.
• Project Monitoring and Site Visits:
• Conduct site visits to monitor the progress of work and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Ensure that materials, labor, and equipment are used efficiently.
• Risk Management:
• Identify and assess risks related to cost and procurement.
• Develop strategies to mitigate financial and contractual risks.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
• Attend meetings and collaborate with project teams to resolve issues and discuss financial matters.
• Final Accounts and Closing:
• Prepare final accounts and ensure all financial transactions are completed at the end of the project.
• Resolve any outstanding financial matters and close out contracts.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., RICS - Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is preferred.
• Proven experience in quantity surveying or construction management.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Working Conditions:
