Job Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact) bits manufactured in our facility meet the highest standards of quality and safety. This role involves conducting inspections, testing materials, and overseeing the production process to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspection and Testing : Conduct thorough inspections of PDC bits at various stages of the manufacturing process, including raw materials, in-process, and final product.
• Inspect first off and do first article inspections of parts as per relevant drawing requirements.
• Inspect inward goods including OP/OS, etc. to the relevant drawings and PO requirements.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and any discrepancies or non-conformances.
• Raise NCRs for both in house products, supplier products in JDE and shipping NCRs for the intercompany orders.
• Pass parts off using JDE.
• Filling all quality documents in proper sequence.
• Maintain records for all completed WOs, POs, PRs on OnBase
Quality Assurance: Ensure all products meet or exceed industry standards, customer specifications, and company quality guidelines.
• Perform Line, Batch and Final inspection as per NOV procedure and relevant drawing requirements.
• Assembly parts inspection before beginning assembly.
• Buyout parts certificates review or inspection when deemed needed by Quality Manager.
• Participate in trainings and get qualified NOV NDT Level II inspector to conduct Dye pen Inspection and certification of respective products being manufactured.
• Review Material test certificates with respect to the PO and Drawing requirements.
Process Improvement: Identify and report any issues or trends related to product quality, and work with the production team to develop and implement corrective actions.
• Work closely with Quality Inspectors / Quality engineers to analyse quality management system measurables.
• Report and initiate Non-Conformance Report when product under inspection did not match with the print specifications.
Equipment Calibration: Ensure all inspection and testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
• Calibration and control of Gauges/Instruments using Gauge Pack
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Comply with NOV HSEQ Policy and Safety Procedures to avoid incidents and accidents.
• Report HSE observations whenever required.
• Attend Daily / Monthly Safety trainings offered via classroom or Employee Hub as applicable.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area.
• Phosphate unit titration and control phosphate process as per specification requirements
• Review and control shot peening process as per specification requirements.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential:
• High school diploma or equivalent. Or Technical certification / associate degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality control Or CNC/Manual machinist having minimum 4-year experience in a API 7-1 certified facility
• Strong negotiation skills. Ability to adapt work processes to demand requirements. Proficient in English speaking and writing Microsoft Office Knowledge
Desirable:
• Mechanical or Production Engineers, Metallurgy - Materials Engineers, Welding Engineers.
• Experience in Welding Inspection Experience in Bits Manufacturing
• Exposure to an ERP system.
• Experience and working knowledge in NDT inspection- LP (Liquid penetrant)
Quality Assurance:
• Carry out all duties in accordance with Quality Assurance procedures and department instructions.
• Contribute to general improvement in the quality and key activities of the department.
• Become familiar and participate in Internal, API and other 3rd Party Audits
