Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Engineer to join our team at our ready-mix concrete factory. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality control process of concrete production, ensuring that all products meet industry standards and customer specifications. This includes preparing mix designs, controlling raw materials, managing testing procedures, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. Additionally, the QC Engineer will play a role in project pricing and cost estimation for concrete projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Control Management:
• Ensure that all concrete products meet the required quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Monitor and control the production process to maintain the desired quality levels.
• Perform regular site inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials and finished products (e.g., slump, compressive strength, air content).
• Identify and resolve any quality issues or discrepancies in the production process.
• Maintain accurate records of testing and production data for quality assurance purposes.
• Mix Design Preparation:
• Prepare, modify, and optimize concrete mix designs based on project requirements and customer specifications.
• Ensure mix designs meet the relevant local and international standards, such as ASTM, BS, or EN.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to develop appropriate concrete mixes for different types of construction projects.
• Perform trials and testing to determine the best combination of materials for durability, strength, and workability.
• Review and approve mix designs before production.
• Pricing and Cost Estimation:
• Assist in preparing cost estimates for concrete supply and delivery based on project specifications.
• Collaborate with project managers and sales teams to develop pricing strategies for concrete projects.
• Provide accurate calculations for raw material quantities (cement, aggregates, admixtures, etc.) required for different mix designs.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations on project costs, including raw material costs, labor, and transportation costs.
• Material and Supplier Management:
• Oversee the selection and quality control of raw materials used in the concrete mix (cement, aggregates, admixtures, etc.).
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and maintain good relationships with them.
• Ensure that materials are stored and handled according to best practices to maintain quality.
• Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards during the production process.
• Review and ensure proper documentation is maintained for compliance with local and international regulations.
• Implement corrective actions when necessary to meet regulatory standards.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with production staff, engineers, project managers, and sales teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Provide training and guidance on quality standards to team members.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quality control within a ready-mix concrete or construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of concrete mix design principles, testing standards, and quality control procedures.
• Proficiency in using laboratory testing equipment and software for mix design calculations.
• Understanding of pricing strategies, cost estimation, and project budgeting.
• Familiarity with local and international concrete standards (ASTM, BS, EN, etc.).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
