: Project Manager / Civil Engineer Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager / Civil Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing civil engineering projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position requires a blend of engineering expertise, project management experience, and strong leadership skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
• Project Planning & Coordination : Lead and coordinate all aspects of civil engineering projects, from design to execution. Ensure the project is progressing according to schedule and within budget.
• Resource Management : Manage project resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment. Ensure the availability of resources and optimize their use.
• Risk Management : Identify potential risks and issues in the project lifecycle, develop mitigation plans, and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Stakeholder Communication : Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates and ensure all parties are informed of progress and challenges.
• Budget & Cost Control : Prepare and manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure the project is completed within financial constraints.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance : Ensure all project activities comply with local codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Oversee quality control and assurance procedures.
Engineering Responsibilities
• Design & Engineering Support : Collaborate with engineers and designers to create project plans, specifications, and detailed drawings for civil works such as roads, bridges, drainage systems, utilities, and other infrastructure.
• Site Supervision : Oversee the construction phase, ensuring that work is being performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and safety protocols. Conduct site inspections and resolve any engineering-related issues on-site.
• Technical Analysis : Perform technical analysis and calculations to support project designs. Review and approve engineering reports, proposals, and designs submitted by consultants or contractors.
• Documentation & Reporting : Maintain detailed records of the project's design, approvals, permits, and inspections. Prepare progress reports, status updates, and final project documentation.
Leadership & Team Management
• Team Leadership : Lead and mentor the project team, including engineers, construction crews, and subcontractors. Foster a collaborative work environment and ensure all team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
• Training & Development : Identify skill gaps and opportunities for professional development within the project team. Provide guidance and training as necessary to ensure high-quality performance.
Client & Vendor Relations
• Client Interaction : Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring that their needs and expectations are met throughout the project. Provide recommendations and solutions to address any client concerns or changes.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Management : Source and manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements, deadlines, and quality standards.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (or ability to obtain).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 2-3 years in project management.
• Experience with a variety of civil engineering projects such as roads, bridges, drainage, utilities, and urban infrastructure.
Skills & Competencies
• Project Management : Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Technical Proficiency : In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, methods, and materials.
• Leadership : Ability to lead a diverse team and drive results.
• Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
• Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to resolve complex engineering issues.
• Software Proficiency : Proficient in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit) and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, Procore).
Certifications & Licenses
• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
• OSHA Certification or equivalent safety certifications.
