About the role:
Jan De Nul Group offers specialized services for dredging, offshore, civil and environmental works. Preparing the seabed, dredging trenches as well as stabilizing and ballasting them, dredging access channels to operational ports or even building a completely new port including quay walls and new port areas, building bridges, buildings and complex road infrastructures, are part of the tasks of Jan De Nul Group. What you'll do:
As a Project Manager Soil Improvement , you will be working on one of our big international land reclamation projects. The first project location will be in Abu Dhabi. You will be leading the entire soil improvement package of the project, which consists of the execution of (Vibro) Compaction scope and the demonstration of contractual compliance.
Your duties and responsibilities are:
• Leading a team of Geotechnical Engineers and Compaction Superintendents.
• Supervision of compaction works. Together with the team on site, you will define a working strategy, and you will see to a technically sound and efficient execution.
• Guiding a team of geotechnical engineers to perform compliance analysis and calculations of e.g. liquefaction and bearing capacities.
• Geotechnical data and soil interpretation for field and laboratory tests
• Site engineering problem solving, including site inspections
• Preparing (geo)technical reports and supervising the preparation of construction drawings
• Liaising and communicating with Operations, Sub-contractors and Clients.
• Reporting to the Head Office & Project Management.
What do you need to have?
You have a Master's degree in Engineering Sciences, Geotechnics or Geology with a specific affinity for soil mechanics and geotechnics. You have relevant work experience in soil improvement techniques and specifically vibro compaction. You have an understanding of theoretical soil mechanics. Previous experience with dredging and land reclamation projects is an advantage. You are prepared to work abroad on a 2-month work / 1-month leave rotation system.
