: Crane Maintenance Supervisor
Role and Responsibilities:
1.Provides supervision for the Crane/Electrical section including the following:
a. When openings occur in the department, interviews and selects qualified candidates for staffing requirements.
b. Provides direction and instruction to subordinate staff, providing regular feedback and regular appraisals.
c. Counsels subordinates, up to and including discipline or termination recommendations.
d. Follows company management policies and procedures in the application of managing subordinates.
e. Participates in career plan development for subordinates.
f. Participates in meeting Emiratisation goals annually, assuring training and development for the staff.
g. Carry responsibility as the Project Lead for equipment improvement projects.
h. Support the implementation and execution of the maintenance strategy for the equipment to ensure achievement of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
i. Ensures the efficient and effective use of shift hours (capacity utilization) by assigned direct reports.
2.Ensures that the maintenance, breakdown services and or repairs (electrical and electronic) for container handling cranes and RTGs are maintained in a cost effective manner, with consideration given to quality and longer duration of equipment.
a. Provides maintenance and breakdown service for container handling gantry cranes, rubber tyred gantry cranes, mobile harbour cranes, Moore Masters (Cavotec) and any additional new equipment under the scope of crane maintenance section.
b. Ensures that emergency work is followed up by reporting to the supervisor and/or manager crane maintenance.
c. Leads crane technicians to carry out maintenance repairs, fault findings and monitoring.
d. Submits routine and critical inspection and monitoring reports by ensuring accurate and up to date information is input into the long book.
e. Ensures work conforms with safety rules and regulation
f. Submits daily activity report, attendance, work schedules and manning.
g. Ensure tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment.
h. Coordinate and monitor maintenance and repair activities on the equipment.
i. Perform quality control inspections post work order completion to ensure that the equipment is returned to the Operations department in a safe and optimal operational condition.
j. Oversee and/or assist Mechanics & Electricians in diagnosis of faults and reporting.
k. Determine the repair method to control the R&M cost considering the minimum safety requirements.
3. Coordination of the maintenance and repair execution on equipment.
4. Ensuring that the functional and operational conditions of the equipment is continuously maintained & repaired according.
5.Provides complete and accurate reports for supervisor electrical and manager crane maintenance to the management.
6.May work without supervision on the night shift and as substitute as needed.
7.Performs any other related activities, as required.
Skills and Requirements:
1.Education: Requires a Bachelor in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. Any additional training in both electrical/electronic/mechanical fields in any heavy industries. Certificate in supervisory principles.
2.Experience: Requires at least 8-10 years of crane maintenance and repair experience in ports, mines, steel or heavy industry plants. Demonstrated ability to work on highly complex problems at a senior or advanced level. Require at least 4 years of lead or supervisory experience (for team of mechanics/electricians)
3.Specialized Knowledge:
a. Requires specific technical knowledge in the maintenance and repair of quay cranes, rubber tyred gantry cranes, spreaders.
b. Must be able to replace/repair/adjust major electrical & electronic components of cranes and RTGs such as PLC, communication drive control systems, and various other electronic/electrical components and parts.
c. Must have a familiarity with GE, Fuji, and Siemens controls.
d. Requires an extensive knowledge with PLC and drive system of cranes and RTGs.
e. Must be familiar with electronic instrumentation and communication systems.
f. Must have knowledge of general management and supervisory principles.
4. Skills:
g. Requires ability to interpret mechanical/electrical and electronic diagrams.
a. Requires ability to test electrical and electronic components with digital and analog tester
b. Requires electrical/electronic aptitude in order to perform varying assignments.
c. Requires intermediate to advanced verbal and written communications skills in English.
d. Requires ability to lead the work team, set priorities, and establish work routines.
e. Requires good interpersonal skills.
f. Must be able to exercise good judgment in order to set priorities.
g. UAE driver's license, with good driving record.
h. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
i. Knowledgeable of Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
j. Experienced in Maintenance management software.
k. Exceptional inter-personal skills.
l. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
m. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
n. Good time management skills (ability to focus & prioritise to meet deadlines)
o. Ability to work to a flexible time schedule when required (i.e. during off-hour equipment breakdowns or to meet equipment readiness deadlines set by operational demand).
