Job Description

The Project Estimator for Furniture is responsible for accurately estimating the costs and resources required for furniture manufacturing projects. This role involves analyzing project specifications, preparing detailed cost breakdowns, and collaborating with various departments to ensure project proposals are competitive and aligned with the company's financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation:

• Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Calculate material, labor, and production costs for custom furniture, cabinetry, and upholstery projects.
• Prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns and ensure accuracy in pricing.

Project Analysis:

• Assess project scope and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Evaluate the feasibility of proposed projects and provide recommendations.
• Review and interpret tender documents and contracts.

Vendor and Supplier Coordination:

• Source and negotiate with suppliers for materials and services.
• Obtain and compare quotes from multiple suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
• Maintain a database of reliable vendors and update pricing information regularly.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with the design, production, and procurement teams to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
• Coordinate with the sales team to provide accurate pricing for client proposals.
• Attend project meetings and provide input on cost-related matters.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare and present detailed cost reports and estimates to management.
• Maintain records of all estimates, proposals, and related documents.
• Update and manage project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.

Compliance:

• Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards and company policies.
• Stay updated on market trends, material costs, and industry best practices.
• Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably in the furniture manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of furniture production processes, materials, and cost structures.
• Proficient in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with local and international suppliers and market trends is a plus.
