We are seeking an experienced Production Engineer with 5-10 years of experience in the interior fit-out or construction sector in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of overseeing the production and manufacturing processes related to interior fit-out projects. This role requires a highly skilled individual who can efficiently manage production schedules, resources, quality control, and coordination between the design and production teams. The successful candidate will contribute to the timely delivery of high-quality projects, optimizing production processes, reducing costs, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
A relevant degree and certifications are required for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Production Planning & Coordination:
• Plan and coordinate the production of interior fit-out materials and components, ensuring alignment with project schedules and client requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and procurement teams to ensure materials and resources are available when needed.
• Oversee the day-to-day production activities in the workshop/factory, ensuring that production processes run smoothly and efficiently.
• Coordinate with external suppliers and subcontractors for the timely delivery of materials, finishes, and custom products.
• Quality Control & Assurance:
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure all produced materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes meet the company's quality standards and project specifications.
• Conduct regular inspections and testing of materials and components to detect any defects or deviations from project requirements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards throughout the production process.
• Resource Management:
• Optimize resource allocation, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to ensure maximum productivity while minimizing waste and downtime.
• Monitor and maintain production equipment, ensuring it is properly calibrated and well-maintained to avoid delays.
• Manage and supervise a team of technicians, craftsmen, and production staff, ensuring they are adequately trained and equipped to perform their tasks efficiently.
• Process Optimization:
• Continuously evaluate production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to optimize workflow and productivity.
• Introduce new production techniques, tools, or technologies to improve efficiency, reduce production costs, and enhance the quality of deliverables.
• Develop and implement cost-effective production strategies without compromising quality or safety.
• Project Support & Collaboration:
• Work closely with the project team (design, engineering, and site teams) to ensure production timelines are aligned with the overall project schedule.
• Assist in the preparation of project cost estimates, ensuring the production phase stays within the allocated budget.
• Provide technical support during the installation and assembly of interior fit-out elements, resolving any on-site issues or discrepancies.
• Health, Safety, and Compliance:
• Enforce strict adherence to health and safety guidelines during production, ensuring that all team members follow best practices and safety protocols.
• Ensure that all materials and products comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Perform risk assessments and address any potential hazards related to the production environment or processes.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of production activities, including work orders, production schedules, material consumption, and inventory.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on production progress, resource utilization, quality control, and any challenges to the production manager or senior management.
• Ensure all documentation related to production processes is stored properly for future reference, audits, or quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Experience:
• 5-10 years of experience in a production engineer role within the interior fit-out or construction industry in the UAE.
• Proven experience in managing production for large-scale interior fit-out projects, including the manufacturing of furniture, joinery, fixtures, and finishes.
• Education:
• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering , Civil Engineering , Industrial Engineering , Interior Design , or a related field.
• Relevant certifications in production management, project management, or quality assurance are highly desirable (e.g., ISO 9001 , Lean Manufacturing , Six Sigma ).
• Skills & Expertise:
• Strong knowledge of interior fit-out production processes , including joinery, carpentry, metalwork, and finishing techniques.
• Proficient in using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to review technical drawings and production plans.
• Strong understanding of material properties and their applications in interior fit-out projects (wood, metals, glass, composites, etc.).
• Excellent knowledge of quality control standards and techniques in the production of interior fit-out materials.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with experience supervising and guiding production teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and production management software.
• Language Skills:
• Proficiency in English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
• Other Requirements:
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Valid UAE driving license is preferred for site visits and coordination with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address production challenges quickly.
