Job Overview: PRODUCTION COORDINATOR/SUPERVISOR-JOINERY
The Production Coordinator/Supervisor for Joinery is responsible for overseeing the production process in a joinery workshop, ensuring the efficient manufacturing of wooden products, furniture, or custom joinery items. This role involves managing a team, coordinating resources, scheduling production timelines, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring high-quality output. The supervisor will also act as a liaison between the production team, project managers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Coordination:
Develop and implement production schedules and plans to meet client requirements and deadlines.
Coordinate with the project management team to ensure accurate product specifications and delivery timelines.
Monitor the progress of production, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within budget.
Team Management:
Supervise and lead a team of joiners, carpenters, and other production staff.
Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to ensure skills development and adherence to company standards.
Organize shift schedules, manage workloads, and ensure that all team members work efficiently.
Quality Control:
Ensure the highest quality of work in all aspects of the production process.
Inspect products at various stages of production for quality assurance and compliance with specifications.
Address any defects or quality issues promptly to avoid delays.
Material Management:
Oversee the inventory of materials required for production and ensure that supplies are well-stocked and accessible.
Collaborate with procurement teams to order materials as needed to avoid production delays.
Ensure that waste is minimized and materials are used efficiently.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all health and safety regulations are adhered to within the workshop.
Promote a safe working environment by monitoring workplace safety and addressing potential hazards.
Ensure team members are trained in the correct use of equipment and machinery, and adhere to safety protocols.
Machinery and Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure that all production machinery and equipment are well-maintained and serviced regularly.
Troubleshoot issues with machinery and equipment and arrange for repairs as needed to minimize downtime.
Client and Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain regular communication with project managers and clients to provide updates on production progress and address any concerns or changes.
Assist in managing project timelines and provide realistic delivery expectations based on production capacity.
Reporting:
Prepare and maintain production reports, highlighting key performance metrics such as productivity, quality, and delivery status.
Report any issues or delays to management and propose solutions to resolve production challenges.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree or certification in carpentry, joinery, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Proven experience (4- years) in flooring and joinery or woodworking production, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
In-depth knowledge of joinery techniques, materials, and tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
Familiarity with computer software for production planning and reporting (e.g., Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
Must have Driving License
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a workshop environment.
May require lifting or moving heavy materials.
May require extended hours depending on production deadlines.
