Process Engineer

to join our award-winning team based in

Dubai, UAE.



This critical role will work as part of the Infrastructure team, and will be responsible for leading process design, optimization, and implementation across various water and wastewater treatment projects, including sewage treatment plants (STP), water treatment plants (WTP), seawater desalination plants, and Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Engineering.

The role involves ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective treatment processes, troubleshooting operational issues, and providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

Additionally, the candidate should have experience in odor control systems and conducting HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) and CHAZOP (Control Hazard and Operability) studies for process safety and risk assessment.


We envisage success in this role to include;

Process Design & Engineering



Developing and optimising process designs for water and wastewater treatment plants, desalination plants, and related infrastructure. Preparing process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), hydraulic calculations, and mass balance analyses. Ensuring process designs comply with international and regional standards (WHO, US EPA, GCC regulations, and local authorities' guidelines). Selecting and specifying process equipment such as pumps, blowers, membranes, filters, chemical dosing systems, aeration systems, and clarifiers. Performing process simulation and modeling using tools like Aspen HYSYS, BIOWIN, and GPS-X. Being a centre of knowledge in odor control systems, including chemical scrubbing, bio-filtration, activated carbon filtration, and aeration techniques to mitigate odor emissions.

Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Engineering

Defining ICA requirements for water and wastewater treatment processes. Coordinating with SCADA, PLC, and DCS engineers to ensure seamless automation of processes. Overseeing the integration of real-time monitoring and telemetry systems to enhance process control. Ensuring ICA systems comply with ISA, IEC, and NFPA standards.

HAZOP & CHAZOP Studies

Conducting HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies to systematically evaluate risks in process design and operation. Leading CHAZOP (Control Hazard and Operability) studies to assess and mitigate risks in control and automation systems. Identifying potential process hazards, operational inefficiencies, and control system risks in treatment plants. Developing risk mitigation strategies and design modifications to enhance safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Project Management & Technical Leadership

Leading process engineering teams and provide mentorship to junior engineers. Working closely with civil, mechanical, electrical, and ICA teams to ensure smooth interdisciplinary coordination. Assisting in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and client requirements. Preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, risk assessments, and impact analyses.

Site Support & Commissioning

Supporting the construction, commissioning, and startup of water and wastewater treatment plants. Conducting site visits, process inspections, and troubleshooting to resolve operational challenges. Developing operational manuals and training programs for plant operators.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

Ensuring all process designs and operations comply with environmental, safety, and industry regulations. Working closely with government authorities and regulatory bodies for permits, approvals, and compliance reporting.

Proposal Development & Client Engagement

Assisting in the preparation of technical and financial proposals for tenders and bidding opportunities. Collaborating with clients to understand project requirements and provide technical support. Contributing to value engineering and cost optimization to improve project feasibility.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that you will have a Bachelor's (Master's degree will be seen as favourable) in Chemical, Environmental, Process, or Water Engineering, with a minimum of 15 years of post graduate work experience in process engineering for water/waste water treatment projects in the GCC.



Additional points to be aware of are:Expertise in membrane processes (RO, UF, NF), biological treatment (MBR, MBBR, SBR, activated sludge), and chemical treatment. Strong knowledge of ICA engineering, SCADA, PLC, and DCS systems. Experience in odor control systems and conducting HAZOP & CHAZOP studies for process and automation risk assessment. Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software (Aspen HYSYS, BIOWIN, GPS-X). Experience in project management, regulatory approvals, and client coordination. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Certification in HSE, ISO, or PMP is an advantage.
