The Business Risk Officer is a key first line of defense within a business line from a service and risk management perspective.
Supports the Wealth Management and Private Banking business for Middle East, Global South Asia & Africa
The role holder, within the Business Management Team will work closely with the team of Business Heads, Relationship Managers, Service Executives, Onboarding Specialists, Compliance, AFC, Infrastructure and stakeholders at the Booking centres.
The position will support the Business in conducting Level 1 Risk Monitoring activities on a periodic basis for both ME and GSAA businesses, and other Business Management activities.
Responsibilities:
Assist Business Risk Manager in designing a strong governance framework and control structure i.e operational Risk framework as the 1st Line of Defense for the Wealth Management business in line with the Global WM written Supervisory Procedures.
Implement the strong governance framework and control structure as the 1st Line of Defense in the Front Office for Wealth Management Business. Fulfill the role of partnership and consultancy by balancing the interests between risk governance and commercial rationale.
Perform Level 1 testing of the various controls as defined in the Operational Risk framework on a periodic basis, present the findings to Business with rationale and provide recommendations (process re-engineering / training) to minimize risks.
Provide guidance, consultation and training to help improve overall understanding of and adherence to procedural/regulatory requirements to Team (On-boarding Specialists, Investment Advisors, Service Assistants, Business Heads, RM/Client Advisors etc).
Support any remediation or business related projects emanating locally or from the Booking Centre along with Business partners - Business Heads, Relationship Managers, On boarding Specialists, Service Assistants and ensure completion before stipulated deadlines.
Provide assistance to Front office in managing prospect clearing, Supervisory attestations etc.
Conduct Business Management induction trainings for New joiners and refreshers where applicable.
BCM - As Business Continuity co-ordinators for Wealth management Business, conduct the call tree tests, review Business continuity documents within the prescribed timelines.
Participate and represent WM in Business Risk review meetings along with Business Heads, Compliance & AFC to provide updates and table/escalate issues. Assist Business Manager in preparation of the Business Risk deck and prepare minutes.
Assist Business Manager (Conflict of Interest Representative for Wealth management) to provide the information required to complete the quarterly Conflict of Interest attestation (Potential/Actual conflicts) in Navigator.
Provide guidance to Supervisors for any Supervisory attestation tasks in Navigator as required.
Prepare and participate in Non-Financial Risk Management workshops as and when nominated.
Provide input and participate in the quarterly Prudential Reporting discussions, DFSA AML Returns, Annual AFC GRA assessments, E-comm surveillance, quarterly NFRM Risk assessment for WM etc.
Responsible for seeking cross border pre-travel approvals, conducting testing related to cross border and MIS reporting.
Update Key Operating procedures to reflect operational processes and upload in portal post relevant approvals. Assist Business Manager to draft Bulletins as and when applicable to keep staff abreast of policy/process changes.
Remain current and thorough on operational processes, services and Firms systems/applications as applicable in DB DIFC.
Assist Business Manager for regulatory and internal audits. Assist to/Action any audit/internal Level 2 testing items and ensure completion before stated deadlines.
Support along with the team, New Hires/internally transferred staff from a Business Management perspective -training on existing processes.
Ensure smooth onboarding for New Hires as back up for Team Assistant and leavers offboarding process (as per role) is tracked until completion.
Prepare topics and participate in periodic Supervisory meetings along with Business Heads, Supervisors, Compliance & AFC to provide/be abreast of any updates.
Input invoices for expenses in DB Buyer as back up for Team Assistant.
Participate in SE meetings as and when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelors degree or equivalent with a specialization in Finance is preferred
A minimum of 4-5 years of banking experience with exposure to Operational risk, Credit risk have worked with Multinational banks is a must.
DIFC experience with exposure to DFSA rules is an added advantage.
Able to manage time and multitask
Strong inter-personal, communication and consulting skills
Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work in virtual global teams and a matrix organization
