The role will report to the Mobility and Transportation Lead in Dubai and work closely with the Group Director Smart Cities & Urban Infrastructure Transformation (SUIT) and other Associate Directors.Manage the role of Principal Transport Modeller for projects in MENA & GCC region with focus on analysing and improving transportation systems.The Principal Transport Modeller is a senior technical resource and serves as the technical advisor for the team. Plans work, provides technical reviews and quality management. Shares technical expertise and experience with others in the company via internal technical communication and presentations. Responsible for the development of high-quality design outputs. Able to do hands-on design.ResponsibilitiesThe principal transport modeler will serve as a pivotal figure within the team, not only as a line manager but also as a mentor, fostering growth and development among modelling team members. He should possess a keen ability to monitor timekeeping and conduct performance reviews, offering constructive feedback to their team members. Taking an active stance in the technical advancement of the team, he guides and support less experienced staff, delegating tasks and ensuring project completion to the highest standards. Additionally, he should demonstrate adeptness in financial management, effectively monitoring and tracking budgets for assigned project tasks, thereby contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the teams endeavours.Technical Excellence
Lead and contribute effectively to project related to development of transport model and application of transport model for conceptual and detailed transportation master planning, Traffic Impact Study (TIS), Smart, Sustainable, and Future Mobility projects for various government and private sector clients.
Perform quality control reviews of transport modelling and engineering-related works and reports, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. Serve as Lead Verifier to confirm that the technical approach aligns with the clients scope of services and expectations.
Collaborate with project technical teams as transport modelling expert to validate project approach and review deliverables. Provide valuable modelling and design inputs to multi-disciplinary projects related to city and regional level development of strategic transport model, infrastructure design, conceptual and detailed urban master planning, city wide strategic transport planning and policies, feasibility and scoping studies, business case development, and specification design for ITS and urban regional mobility projects.
Liaise with authorities to secure permits and approvals and engage in discussions regarding technical advancements. Resolve technical issues or conflicts arising from conflicting requirements or complex coordination.
Assume complete ownership of transport related projects by spearheading transport analysis, macro and micro modelling, and strategic planning endeavours, ensuring timely and successful completion of the project task.
Lead transport modelling and traffic engineering-related tasks, proses a fair amount of experience using traffic modelling software (e.g. PTV-VISUM, PTV-VISSIM, CUBE, EMME, etc.), GIS Tools and a good understanding about the underlying principles of transport planning and modelling and practice in GCC area.
Highly proficient in Research, analyse, report writing, and presentation on project findings with specific interpretation of model outputs to justify the impacts of the transport intervention to internal and external stakeholders.
Develop transport planning and modelling related project scopes and modelling methodologies in collaboration with the Mobility and Transportation Lead, including the estimation of technical effort/man-hours for projects.
Provide support to the wider Meinhardt team on transport infrastructure, smart, and sustainable mobility systems for both public and private transport, contributing to infrastructure design projects. This encompasses traffic management systems, parking management systems, EV charging systems, micro-mobility systems, and smart, connected vehicle systems.
Project ManagementMay be required to act as Project Manager on small to medium size discipline-specific projects. Possesses an outstanding comprehension of project delivery requisites and is deeply familiar with project delivery protocols. Proficient in the application of Earned Value Management to evaluate the designs progress vis-\xc3\xa0-vis the budget.Relevant Experience
Minimum 12 years relevant experience in development and application transport model to support city wide transport planning, conceptual and detailed infrastructure planning, urban master planning projects and traffic impact study (TIS) in GCC region.
Education & Qualification
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Urban Planning, or related field (mandatory).
Master s degree in Transportation planning from a recognized university
Chartership/certification/license from a recognized professional body (e.g. P.E., P.Eng., C.Eng., CIHT, CILT) is preferred.
Relevant registration with the transport authorities in UAE, KSA, OMAN, Qatar and Bahrain are preferred.
