Overview:
The Principal Packages Engineer is responsible for preparing technical documentation for requisitioning package equipment, reviewing and evaluating vendor bids, and leading technical discussions with clients and vendors. The role focuses on ensuring the successful selection and procurement of package equipment in line with project specifications, particularly in the upstream offshore oil and gas industry. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and coordination across multiple stakeholders, including EPC teams, vendors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare technical documentation for package equipment requisitions, including Technical Supply Specifications and Mechanical Data Sheets.
Review and evaluate technical bids received from vendors, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
Create detailed technical tabulations and evaluations for various package submissions by vendors.
Manage client and vendor meetings, ensuring technical discussions are well-coordinated and address all project needs.
Ensure that all package equipment designs meet the latest industry standards and technologies.
Provide technical input and support throughout the procurement, design, and fabrication stages of package equipment.
Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution and equipment integration.
Monitor and report on package equipment progress, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met. Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's Degree preferred). Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards related to package equipment and rotating equipment is a plus. Experience:
Minimum of 14 years in a similar position within an EPC company, with a focus on the upstream offshore oil and gas sector. Technical Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of package equipment for the offshore industry, such as water treatment, emergency diesel generators (EDG), chemical dosing and injection systems, instrument air, flare systems, and handling packages (pedestal cranes, bridge cranes, hoists, etc.).
Up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry technologies related to equipment and packages, as well as familiarity with rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors.
