Parsons is looking for a Principal Landscape Architect that will be able to work among a design team and take leadership in the delivery of different major design projects for all our important clients.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Take the leadership, supervise, and lead a team of landscape architects and designers, and work among a team of design engineers from all disciplines to deliver large projects in compliance with each project requirement under the direct supervision of the technical Director.
Lead and undertake landscape design drawings, specifications, and calculation submittals and planning for a range of landscape projects, from concept to delivery stages in accordance with all relevant standards
Preparation, design and presentation of high quality landscape drawings
Work with a range of disciplines within Parsons and with outside consultants
Contribute new innovative ideas, materials, research and learnings to the landscape team
Support both the design and landscape and visual assessment teams.
Ensure professional speedy and courteous responses to all landscape related enquiries from Clients and Authorities
Lead the preparation of the technical correspondence, reports, and studies for all landscape related works
Interface and provide high level liaison with Clients and Clients representatives.
Interface with approval Agencies/Authorities for all landscape works
Preparation of technical design packages through to tender and IFC.
Design Support to contract administration of projects.
Liaise with engineers and plan, program and delegate within the team structure.
Coordination with other relevant disciplines such as Master Planners, Engineers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Architects.
Prepare contracts within budget requirements and provide accurate costing information to the client or quantity surveyors.
Develop maintenance plans for completed sites.
Maintain affiliations with professional societies to keep abreast of technologies.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of Bachelors Degree and post graduate qualification in landscape architecture with fifteen (15) years minimum post-graduate professional experience in landscape projects.
Completion of the relevant professional qualifications and affiliation to a recognized landscape body in the country of education.
Demonstrated project management experience to deliver multiple projects that meet strict deadlines, budgets and deliver identified outcomes.
Experience in applying relevant local and international industry standards in relation to landscape design
Demonstrated experience investigating, analyzing and resolving difficult design problems.
Ability to work independently on a diverse range of design projects.
Demonstrated ability to effectively plan the use of resources to meet the requirements of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to manage a number of conflicting priorities simultaneously.
High level excellent English communication skills (written & oral) with demonstrated ability to produce professional accurate, concise and timely reports and high quality presentations on relevant matters.
Must be dependable and self-motivated leader.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Chartered senior Landscape Architect with experience at this level
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Ability to take on projects and work independently, or as part of the wider landscape and multi-disciplinary teams.
Self-motivated, highly organized, excellent verbal and written communications
Requires proficiency in the application of landscape architectural design standards, practices, techniques, and concepts.
Creative intuitive designer with strong analytical and design synthesis skills. ability to quickly and effectively communicate visual ideas.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe CS and other PC software packages typically associated with landscape architectural design is required with good graphical presentation skills for drawing delivery
Advanced 3D modeling programs such as Rhino are a strong plus. The ability to make presentations to clients and others is preferred.
Good standard of report writing skills
Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) experience is required
Site visits and appraisal work forms part of the role, sometimes in more remote locations, therefore a driving license is essential for this role
