Job Purpose

To perform activities supporting the environmental permitting process and documentation of Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) in order to ensure that all required permits are in place and according to the agreed timelines.

Key Activities, Responsibility & Accountability

Responsibility:

• Administer all environment-related permitting processes in order to meet the requirements of Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) and other environmental regulators to ensure ENEC is able to commence construction and operations within its milestone dates
• Liaise with the EAD to understand the required environmental permitting requirements
• Coordinate internal ENEC resources to complete the necessary actions and documentation required for environmental permitting
• Check quality of permitting document submittals to EAD, FANR and other stakeholders as applicable
• Lead the development of the Operations Environment Permit requirements including OEMP, REMP, and environmental lab development.
• Ensure the effectiveness of tracking and closing regulatory and other environmental requirements
• Oversee relevant site characterization and environmental baseline studies and services
• Provide technical input and expertise to Corporate HSE, Licensing, Engineering, Nawah and Siting & Water Strategy
• Ensure, in cooperation with Engineering Department, that the environmental design requirements are addressed in the engineering and design of relevant BNPP systems and equipment
• Review environmentally important design features change and non-conformance reviews and evaluations.
• Coordinate the review of related deliverables and ensure the quality of the review, feedback, and documentation.
• Provide input into planning and conducting environmental impact assessments, environmental monitoring activities and the development of required mitigation measures to ensure successful preparation and accomplishment of initiatives
• Develop plans and schedules for the Permitting section to ensure alignment with ENEC's Master Plan
• Liaise with external agencies to develop necessary records for Construction Environment Management Plan and Operational Environment Management Plan preparation
• Coordinate environmental baseline surveying with the EAD and Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) to ensure that valid and consistent information is shared for planning purposes

Education - Bachelor's degree in engineering/ science or equivalent

Experience

5+ years relevant experience including experience in a senior permitting role in a complex industrial setting Experience in major utilities project development
