Overview:

The Principal Engineer - Instrumentation (Packages) will be responsible for leading the engineering, specification, and design of instrumentation packages for offshore oil and gas projects. This includes managing package instrumentation such as Wellhead Control Panels (WHCP), Multiphase Flow Meters (MPFM), High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPPS), Fiscal Metering, and Fire & Gas (F&G) Detection & Alarming systems. The role also involves supervision of field design activities, vendor management, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities:

Lead the engineering design and specification process for instrumentation packages, including field instruments and package systems such as WHCP, MPFM, HIPPS, and F&G systems.

Develop and review instrumentation specifications, requisitions, and perform technical bid evaluations (TBE) for instrumentation packages.

Provide vendor follow-up and coordination, ensuring that instrumentation packages meet project requirements and specifications.

Supervise field design activities, including cable routing, instrument hook-up, bulk Material Take-Off (MTO), instrumentation layouts, and 3D model reviews.

Conduct site surveys, prepare reports, and provide technical assistance during pre-commissioning and fabrication stages.

Ensure compliance with Qatar Gas (QG), Qatar Petroleum (QP), and other regional standards for instrumentation systems.

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful integration of instrumentation packages into the overall project.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for instrumentation systems throughout the project lifecycle.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering. Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

Specialization in Instrumentation and Control Systems.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and documentation. Years of Experience:

More than 10 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, particularly in the oil and gas sector. Technical Knowledge:

Extensive experience in field instruments and/or instrumentation packages such as WHCP, MPFM, HIPPS, Fiscal Metering, and F&G Detection & Alarming systems.

Proven expertise in field design, including cable routing, hook-up, bulk MTO, instrumentation layouts, and 3D model supervision.
