Overview: The Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for executing electrical engineering activities for assigned projects. This includes design, engineering, and management of electrical systems related to offshore oil and gas fixed platform projects. The engineer will work closely with other engineering disciplines and project teams to ensure all electrical engineering tasks are completed efficiently and according to project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and perform electrical design, calculations, and analysis for project requirements.
Prepare and review electrical engineering deliverables such as electrical single line diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, and data sheets.
Conduct interdisciplinary checks of electrical documents with mechanical, civil, and process teams.
Oversee the electrical scope of work to ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Provide technical support and advice during the installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
Conduct site visits for inspections, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
Ensure proper documentation of engineering changes and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate with the procurement team for electrical equipment specifications and vendor evaluations.
Education:
Bachelor of Engineering - Civil or Electrical Engineering
Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:
Proficiency in electrical design software and tools such as ETAP or similar.
Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NFPA).
Years of Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of electrical system design for offshore platforms, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
Experience in FEED, Design, and EPC projects with a focus on electrical engineering and adherence to industry standards like Qatar Energy, Saudi Aramco, ADNOC preferred.
