Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team!


Requirements and Capabilities:

• Should be well versed in International and Abu Dhabi standards (ADQCC), having a wide knowledge in developing design for HV, MV, LV, Street Light Networks, substations, pumping stations and all power requirements for utilities infrastructure.
• Possess good understanding of dry utilities, especially obtaining NOCs from various utilities for the design of MV, LV and Street light network.
• Should have strong communication skills and should be able to interface with other disciplines as well as understanding client requirements and providing quick solutions.
• Experienced in various software used in Electrical Engineering - ETAP, PSS Sincal, Dialux, and in addition shall have a good command on MS Office tools like Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Should be able to perform well as a team leader and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Skilled in interdepartmental coordination and design safety and integrity.
• Should be able to perform all engineering calculations such as cable sizing, transformer sizing, generator sizing, switchgear sizing, Ac and Dc UPS and battery sizing.
• Should be able to develop and review single line diagrams, protection diagrams, schematic diagrams, layout drawings, general arrangement drawings, load schedules, cable schedules, etc.
• Capable of preparing reports, bill of quantities, scope of work, specifications, data sheet and other construction documents.
• Should be involved in carrying out tender analysis and preparation of technical and commercial bid evaluation reports.
• Should be able to review technical submittals and shop drawings from contractor/vendor.
• Project and resources planning
• Capable of performing Dynamic design-responsive to changes from client and authorities.

Responsibilities:

• Perform design/analyses calculations related to electrical works such as low voltage distribution network, medium voltage and high voltage networks, substations, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial plant electrification, standby power systems, AC/ DC power systems protection and controls and ELV systems using governing engineering formulas, standards, skills, and experience.
• General Arrangements, Layouts and plans. Single line diagrams, protection diagrams, schematic diagrams
• Research and prepare design options and documents
• Value engineering studies
• Review Design Reports and Drawings.
• Frequently interface with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
• Review shop drawings, supplier drawing and technical submittals
• Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
• Perform technical tender analyses and prepares tender evaluation report.
• Provide technical guidance to BIM modelers, CAD Designers, Drafters, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project
• Development of Electrical specifications, data sheets, Single Line Diagram, Schedules, I/O list, Layout drawings, wiring details, Equipment sizing, Electrical MTO and related design elements as per authority's requirements.
• Perform all associated Electrical calculations covering, equipment sizing, cable sizing, UPS sizing, Earthing Calculation etc.
• Perform/check various power system analysis study - load flow, short circuit, motor starting, transient stability, harmonic analysis, arc flash, protection coordination, etc.
• Experience in preparation of Material Requisition, Scope of Works, review of offers, technical clarifications, technical bid evaluation, etc.
• Participation in site survey and data collection for Electrical design.
• Participation in Design reviews, E-HAZOP, Energy Optimization review, Value engineering, constructability other workshops.
• Good understanding of HSE requirements of both self and within the discipline team.
• Ensuring technical integrity of the Electrical deliverables for the project. In particular ensure compliance with the work scope and with applicable international standards.
• Work on proposals and prepare MH estimation.
• Prepare cost, time and resource requirement estimates on assigned projects.
• Manage design change within project budget and schedule framework.
• Effective interaction with client engineering team for approval of design deliverables.
• Represent organizational competency and capabilities at various forums.
• Onshore design of Substations, Electrical Power Distribution Systems in the infrastructure development industry.
• Develop discipline work plans.
• Overall supervision of Electrical engineers, designers and technical personnel in the execution of the project and development of project deliverables.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

People Management:



Allocates tasks, checks the work, and coordinates / supervises the daily activities of a fixed task / single initiative / project-based team, and provides feedback on their performance. Provides recommendations on resourcing (people) requirements for specific projects in the Region to more senior team members and can influence decisions.


Required skills:

• Bachelor's Degree/master's degree in electrical engineering from a major University. Professional Engineer registration may be required.
• Minimum 15+ years of related experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other engineering design software packages such as ETAP, Sinical, CYME, Dialux or similar.
• Knowledge is Primavera, Autodesk Civil 3D and GIS
• Microsoft Office proficiency with Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft project
• Worked on projects with local utility companies TAQA, ADDC, TRANSCO, DEWA, FEWA etc. and well versed with their specifications and systems.
• Extensive and knowledgeable computer skills Autocad-Civil3D
• Ability to implement Quality Management System on projects effectively.
• Good spoken and written English is essential.
• Previous experience in Abu Dhabi is preferable
• Prior experience in leading multi discipline teams and facing clients.
• Knowledge in BIM for roads and infrastructure.
• Organized and self-motivated.
