Principal Civil Engineer (Design - Wet Utilities)

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Civil Engineer (Design - Wet Utilities to join our team! In this role you will get to determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.
• Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a largescale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
• Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
• Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
• Directs others in the application of a range of technologies including Sewer Gems, Water Gems or equivalent hydraulic modelling software; Civil 3D, AutoCAD, CDE and BIM. Provides input to CAD Designer/Drafters working on the same project.
• Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
• Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing sup plier manufacturing capabilities.
• Develops operation and maintenance plans; develops standard operating procedures; prepares O & M manuals and may conduct onsite training of personnel.
• Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations. Performs reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM) and safety analyses.
• Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
• Shall be familiar with load demand calculations for large private developments and/ or large government projects. Shall be conversant with Water / Irrigation / Firefighting Authority regulations such as DEWA, ADDC/ ADWEA, DM, ADM, DCD, ADCD and other relevant authorities within gulf region.
• Working knowledge of planning, designing and construction of water supply systems, including Water treatment, pumping systems, intake structures, etc.,
• Shall have basic experience in creating utility cross sections as per requirements of local authorities in the Gulf region like RTA (Dubai), DMT (Abu Dhabi), MOMRA (KSA), etc.
• Preparation of technical specifications and design reports. Shall be conversant with the British and American codes as well as DEWA / DM regulations for the design of wastewater systems.
• Shall have experience of liaising with service providers agencies for obtaining NOCs and Design Approvals, etc.
• Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
• Recommends and prepares technical papers.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil / Agriculture/ Hydraulics / Water/ Environmental Engineering (or related field) with minimum 15 years of related work experience in wet utilities like portable water, waste water, sewerage networks projects , preferably with GCC countries.
• Master's degree would be preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration may be required.
• Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
• Requires advance engineering knowledge in d esign of urban sewerage, water supply and irrigation systems. Familiarity with CAD (Civil 3D) and other PC software packages typically associated with wet services engineering is also required. Knowledge of latest software like Civil 3D, Dynamo, Python, Open Roads, Open Utilities, GIS is preferred.

• Regional/international experience of water systems design and management strategies in comparable situations. We are looking for a team player with strong inter-personal, communication and excellent report writing skills.
• Experience in on-the-job training and mentoring in pressure system design and management skills.
