The successful candidates duties and responsibilities will include:
Project manage and author large scale environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA), strategic environmental assessments (SEA), and environmental and social due diligence audits for major energy, industrial and infrastructure clients in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iraq, KSA and the wider region in line with local and national legislation, standards and guidelines, and relevant international standards, guidelines, and best practices.
Providing business development support including preparation of marketing materials, meetings with existing and potential new clients, participation in relevant industry events.
Consult with stakeholders and effectively manage sub-consultants
Develop and maintain relationships with clients and regulatory authorities
Provide technical input, co-ordination, review, and direction on projects
Support the wider team, including mentoring junior staff as and when required
Manage project financial performance and meeting profit targets
Prepare and manage multi-disciplinary tenders and seek opportunities for new work
Willingness to travel extensively throughout the region for biodiversity based fieldwork
Represent the company at external events as required and directed including those relating to professional membership and business development.
Prepare and deliver internal training, with a particular focus on terrestrial ecology
Desired experience:
Degree in relevant environmental or engineering discipline
Over ten years experience of delivering consultancy services to a range of clients, working directly for clients and meeting their expectations with deliverables in biodiversity/ecology consultancy
Specialist skills in a particular ecological field (e.g. botany, herptiles, aquatic ecology, avifauna, etc.) would be particularly advantageous
Excellent understanding of the ESHIA process, international environmental and social legislation, guidelines and standards, and international project financing mechanisms and implications
Managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams working on a range of environmental inputs across energy, industrial and infrastructure projects, as applicable
Ability to chair social and environmental impact identification (S/ENVID) workshops for energy, industrial and infrastructure projects
Provide technical alternatives and solutions to technical clarifications to the clients
Negotiate with regulators to achieve the best environmental outcome for the client
Experience of working on multiple projects, simultaneously
Robust project management, including scheduling, staff resource management, and budget management
Excellent written English and verbal communication, presentation, and organisational skills
Ability to produce robust and comprehensive written deliverables
Quality assurance and quality control - technically reviewing and approving the work produced by the project team
Ability to mentor staff either technically for their discipline or in project management
Contribute to developing a pipeline of work
Proactive networker
